In the days of yore there was a geekhack meme contest.  I can't find that thread anymore, and even if I could all the attachments would be bogus.  And most of the memes were ping jokes and jabs at ripster.  But trust me, there was some hilarious stuff in there.

I've been meaning to revive this idea for a while, and this thread (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=41829) pushed me over the edge.  Not sure what the prize will be yet or how it will be run, so for now let's just post funny stuff.

Note that we already have a thread of random stuff (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=36603.0), so let's keep this to actual, established memes, preferably new ones you make up yourself.  That said, feel free to post stuff from the old thread if you've got it, or other oldies but goodies.  Regardless, keep the jokes keyboard-centric.

Love that guy! Like a steampunk Frederick Douglass! He's the 'The Rent is Too Damn High' candidate from about a year ago in NY state. Also, turns out he lives in a rent controlled apartment. This means he probably pays $250/month to live in a pre-war building with vaulted 15' high ceilings, LOL!

no it's just that simply putting impact font over tired and overused images aren't memes. and cookie cutter things arent memes. they are image macros. its complicated. and tp4tissue is just an e-hero

I even think the claim that the Cherry stabs feel is intentional, is complete bogus --- a few people claim that the Cherry stabs are supposed to have their own "bottom-out" padding or cushioning.... well I call BS! Why would they do that? Someone made that up so they can feel better about their Cherry stabs I think.

Since this has become another "Costar vs Cherry Stabilizer" Argument, I might as well pipe in.

I don't really care. I prefer Cherry Stabilizers to Costar for ease of removing keys, and the only key I can feel a difference on between the two is the space bar.

I even think the claim that the Cherry stabs feel is intentional, is complete bogus --- a few people claim that the Cherry stabs are supposed to have their own "bottom-out" padding or cushioning.... well I call BS! Why would they do that? Someone made that up so they can feel better about their Cherry stabs I think.

It's not all about feel bro, and if you care that much then lube them.  After mine are worn in they don't feel "mooshy" like some people say.  Cherry stabilizers are just better stabilizers in terms of swapping keys, and I do it a lot.  Costar stabs work, but are a pain in the groin with which to fiddle.

BTW, the Cherry-style stabilisers in a vintage Dytcom board I bought bottom out sharply, not with cushioning. I don't know if Cherry made them or not, though. They sure look like any other Cherry stabilisers in all other respects.

Maybe the same umbrella of internet culture, an image macro can be a meme, but a meme is not an image macro.

Meme - an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.
Image Macro - an image superimposed with text for humorous effect.

For example, me calling everything topper instead of topre, how it's supposed to be properly pronounced, could be an example of a geekhack meme because we're the only ones who understand what that means, and more and more people are saying it. A picture of a cat on a keyboard with the text "HOW DO I KEYBOARD" isn't a meme.

Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird.  We had made plans to meet at a nice restaurant for dinner.  I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment on it.  Conversation wasn't flowing, so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk.  He agreed, but he didn't say much.  I asked him what was wrong; He said, 'Nothing.'  I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset.  He said he wasn't upset, that it had nothing to do with me, and not to worry about it.  On the way home, I told him that I loved him.  He smiled slightly, and kept driving.  I can't explain his behavior I don't know why he didn't say, 'I love you, too.'  When we got home, I felt as if I had lost him completely, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore.  he just sat there quietly, and watched TV.  He continued to seem distant and absent.  Finally, with silence all around us, I decided to go to bed.  About 15 minutes later, he came to bed.  But I still felt that he was distracted, and his thoughts were somewhere else.  He fell asleep - I cried.  I don't know what to do.  I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else.  My life is a disaster.
