Title: Does CM Storm Quickfire keyboard have a metal mount plate?
Post by: wolfv on Sat, 30 March 2013, 13:10:51
Can someone with a CM Storm Quickfire keyboard please tell me if all the Cherry switches are on a metal mount plate?
I just want to verify before I order two Quickfire keyboards online.

Thank you.

The CM QFR is indeed on a steel (painted) plate. The plate does not allow easy switch modification, and you'd need to desolder the switches if you wanted to swap them around. The plate also uses Costar stabilizers. :)

tp4tissue,

I am still figuring out how to connect left & right halves of DIY split keyboards.  That's why I need two Quickfire keyboards.
It's all explained here: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=41824.0

just wire the switches in parallel? that's the easiest way no? you only need ONE of the boards plugged in.

 :))

you don't want 2 boards, because then you can't get good sync on the board without custom software layer to intercept things.

tp4tissue,

Only the right board will be plugged into USB.  The left board will be wired to the right board, but the wires will be 1.5 meters long.  Are 1.5-meter wires too long for the little controller?  I posted a picture on http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=41824.0 #6
