Title: keyboard lighting
Post by: Melvang on Tue, 02 April 2013, 10:25:53
Hey guys couple questions.

First.  Does anyone know or could measure the voltage being applied to the LED's in the Orbweaver from Razer?  My Orbweaver should be here tomorrow and don't like the green LED's.  Wish they would have gone with the customizable LEDs found in the Naga Epic.

Second.  Has anyone ever tried to mount either EL tape or an EL panel with key switches cut out directly to the top of a plate in your keyboard?  Looking to possibly do this to my Phantom board as I will have extra room at the top of the case I will be designing and removing the F keys.

This "customizable" LED ist a RGB LED (fullcolor LED) and actually consist of three LEDs in one package. Therefore, driving them (or better: customizing the color) is not that easy as it is done via PWM signals.

Yeah i knew it was a RGB LED but didn't know they are driven via PWM.  I thought it was just voltage fluctuation.  As I was under the impression that was how they got LED's that are sometimes used on computer case front panels to change between 2 colors.  But either way still trying to dig up info on these questions.
