I believe the dark grey are linear, whereas light grey are tactile.

What price per switch are we looking at?

when in doubt look at the wiki. and by wiki I mean the one at DT of course which agree's with what Halverson said: http://deskthority.net/wiki/Cherry_MX (http://deskthority.net/wiki/Cherry_MX)

ROFL! So how much are these going to cost pexon? :)

Edit - Halverson, Gray tactile switches may be a lighter gray, but MX Gray always means tactile. You should really add Dark to the title pexon. It'll cause less confusion imo :)

Can anyone tell me the difference between light gray and clear switches? Except that light gray switches are stiffer....

Look at the difference between the Clear stem and the Red/Black stem. Light Grey switches are VERY Tactile and Dark Grey switches aren't tactile at all.

EDIT: To be clear, Light Grey switches have identical stems to Clear switches, and Dark Grey switches have identical stems to Black or Red switches, just varying in the color.

There is no difference between them except for the Light Greys being stiffer, which is because of different springs. Well, that and the color, but being as we call them by that, I think you have that down.

Plate mount or PCB mount?
Title: [IC] Cherry MX Grey switches (linear)
Post by: Halverson on Fri, 05 April 2013, 11:11:55
I think a good price would be if they were cheaper than pre-order prices from 7bits MX buy.
Title: Re: [IC] Cherry MX Grey switches (linear)
Post by: pexon on Fri, 05 April 2013, 11:41:10
Plate mount. What does 7bit sell em for?
Title: [IC] Cherry MX Grey switches (linear)
Post by: Halverson on Fri, 05 April 2013, 11:42:56
I think they're .54 euro, so about .70 USD
Title: Re: [IC] Cherry MX Grey switches (linear)
Post by: jdcarpe on Fri, 05 April 2013, 11:45:37
Halverson is correct. 7bit's pre-order prices are:

Code: [Select]
MXDARKGREYP   |  0.54|EUR|MX1A-21NN

Shipping is 4 EUR no matter how many switches you order!

Tactile means you feel a bump (Think Browns), linear means you feel nothing (Think Reds/Blacks) :)

So these are a lot stiffer then blacks correct?

Also a question about the DT wiki, are blacks (60cN) really stiffer then clears (55cN)? Are these numbers accurate? Because I use both and was under the impression that clears were definitly the stiffer of the two. Or is that just caused by the tactile bump?

These grey are 80cN so they are noticeably more force than blacks. Clears are 65cN, ergo clear could be 55cN, maybe whoever edit the wiki f*cked it up?

Aren't there 2 variant springs to MX Clears? I remember the heavier one being 80-105cN or something like that?
Title: Re: [IC] Cherry MX Grey switches (linear)
Post by: IvanIvanovich on Sat, 06 April 2013, 11:02:23
Differences comes from some measuring actuation, and some measuring bottom out forces. There could possibly be a super clear variant I suppose though I have never seen a part number to indicate so, but it wouldn't be anything common.

There is a 105cN clicky grey too, known as grey36 or MX1AB1N*, but it is quite rare.

This one linear is grey37 or MX1A21N* which by the way are these with or without pin for PCB/plate mount?

Where are you sourcing these? Perhaps you can also ask for more popular switch colors? Clear, white, red, and blue switches are the most popular ones according to the GH60 GB orders. Both greys and black were the least ordered switches.
