Title: Signature Plastic Double Shot vs Stock Keycaps (In Terms of typing FEEL)
Post by: Hyde on Thu, 04 April 2013, 22:44:57
Hello I've bought some single double shot keycaps that was made from signature plastics (bought it from other vendor but it was made from SP).  I've noticed that the keycaps very thin, I'd say even thinner than stock ABS keycaps on most boards.

So now I'm wondering how does it feel compare to stock keycaps?  I think SP profile is closer to cherry profile (lower than OEM) isn't it?  Because I think SP double shots look amazing but I'm just concerned about typing feel.

Btw I've tried thick PBT recently but I feel like I want to explore all the possibilities.  Cherry Thick ABS is also on the list down the road  :D

I have imsto cherry caps on my Leo and the Valentine's Set on my Filco. I actually dont mind the SP caps at all. They feel kinda thin but almost....more responsive? Almost clickier than the blues in my Leo (I have blues in both my Filco and Leo). My Leo can feel a bit heavy sometimes....I think I'm one of the few people that doesn't mind ABS as compared to PBT.

I think I'm in the minority too, but I love the way SP caps feel.

lol nice to know there are people like me.  I posted this partially because after trying the imsto keycaps.  While it's nice but I almost feel like I think I'll like thick ABS better.  I find PBT a bit too harsh and doesn't absorb enough vibration.

Sort of why I'm wondering if I'll like the SP Double Shots or if I should just wait for Cherry Double Shots  :P

I'd get in on a GB like CCnG. If you don't like them, you can probably sell them for a small profit :)

lol I was sooooooooo close to get the RainDrop set.  I really like blue and I don't see any group buy for CCnB around so I almost jumped the gun.  But in the end I didn't end up getting it because I wonder how it will match my beige Filco.

Filco beige is really really hard to match  :(

Now I kinda want to wait for a GMK blue modifier run if it ever does happen.  I know IvanIvanovich is doing purple right now so hopefully blue one day lol.

I've also bought stuff from Signature. But are you talking about their doubleshot white and black ABS? I thought they looked damn good but I was concerned ABS would turn yellow in a few years.

Oh I meant in general, like I find their double shots keycaps are pretty thin so I wonder if it would feel any different.  And since a lot of the geekhack group buys are manufactures by signature plastics so I'm just wondering if I want to jump in on the next group buy.

Man if only someone will run this then I'll be totally in:  http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=29020.msg645497#msg645497

SP double shots are nice, but I think thick pbt is has the best feel by far.
