Post by: dante on Fri, 05 April 2013, 21:44:46
http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=927

At the time of posting the conversion runs a little over $100 shipped to the US.

I have no idea how long the special is for.

Why is it the "new Cherry gamer keyboard"? What about it is for "gamers"?

Remember the big Cherry Red push for "gamers" after blacks wore off their appeal? Yeah, that's the gamer part. -_-

at 100 shipped, it's a decent price. I got mine at about 120ish a while back. One of the easier to mod full sized keyboards as its pcb mounted, though the flimsy casing leaves something to be desired.

I don't know how the current G80-3000/3494's stack up to the 3000's at around the time of the Das 2 - but I didn't think the Das was flimsy at all.  Not a Model-M obviously but not a house of cards either.

It shouldn't bend or anything with the light Cherry Reds.

Are there custom steel backplates that can be bought and installed into these?

Diodes in every switch, making it 6KRO. Since a lot of other Cherry keyboards are 2KRO.

Exactly, it's gamer since it has over 2KRO. These are a pretty good deal considering they are usually more like $120+shipping from somewhere in Asia.

yes & no. we have a file that can be used to make a 3000 plate, but aren't planning on adding it to the plate GB. I suppose it maybe could be added, but with just 1 being made except it to end up around $50 shipped for a single 3000 plate as they are even more massive than the 1800 plates

correct

I think the 3000 plates should come, just not at the moment. Let some of our wallets have a break...

I was under the impression that there was a Cherry 3000 MY switch clone of some sort that was plate mounted that could be used on the MX switch model.

Maybe you are thinking of underplate mod, where you remove all the MY switch from it's plate, then put it under MX PCB to eliminate flexing?

I think they are doing a full 3000 plate, also doing an 1800 plate (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=42063.0).

Dam, if only those were double shot caps. I would have bought it just for the caps.

They would had to have been first run from like 2009 to have doubleshot, NOS is getting much harder to come across now. Pair it up with caps from an 8113HUAUS would be a nice one though.
