Let me know all your feelings toward this hobby.
-
It feels lonesome, but there's always the folks on GH and DT to make it seem like a normal hobby. It's always "Oh well this is nice to type on... YOU PAID WHAT? That plastic skull cost you HOW MUCH?"
-
I mostly like the trading and bartering process, because I love interacting with others that share my hobby of keyboard collecting and keycap collecting!
Getting the keyboard or key(set) you've been searching for for a long time is an awesome feeling :p

Like it did before I was a keyboard enthusiast, but my room sounds different and my fingers don't ache ever
-
Do I use the computer? or does the computer use me?
-
It feels empty, like my wallet.
-
I'm new here, and just getting into this, but for some reason I feel at home.
I like that feeling. It's soothing just looking at pretty keyboards and going "ooooo ahhhhh." :)
-
It feels awesome because CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK.
-
clack clack clack clack clack. laughter of the devil.
but it's less a hobby than a necessary evil.
-
feels nerdy yet good

At first it feels overwhelming. "What did I get myself into?"
Next, it feels exciting. "I NEED that!"
Then, it feels envious. "OMG, he has that, and that makes him cool, so I need to get it also, so I will also be cool!"
Next, it feels boring. "Hmmm. The novelty has worn off. And I have everything I can afford."
Then, it feels angry. "These people spend way too much money. I'll never be able to keep up. They need to stop. Supply/demand, blah, blah..."
Next, it feels regretful. "I've spent way too much on this stuff. I need to sell some."
Then, it feels regretful again. "I shouldn't have sold that. I loved it. I'll just have to buy another."
Finally, it feels exciting again. "Hey, I can actually design/build my own keyboards exactly how I want them. I can help others by answering their questions. I can actually CONTRIBUTE to this community, rather than just BUYING and SELLING things. I can help make this hobby fun for others, as well as myself, and have fun doing THAT."
This has been my experience, anyway. :D

my wallet is on it's deathbed, but i love everything about the hobby

The 8 stages of keyboard enthusiasm sounds a bit like the 7 stages of grief.....

I'm currently at Stage 2: Envy.

They say people with hobbies are the happiest in the world and I firmly believe this. As long as the hobby isn't too expensive or affects your personal/work life, then go for it if it makes you happy.
I like trying out new mechanical switches and tinkering out with layouts and keycap color combinations.
tl;dr = feels good, man

To me, it feels like this.

I think I'm somewhere between Stage 6 and Stage 8.
Depending on the day of the week.

Soooo true... I'm at stage #6.

I bring it up on occasion (my Split Kinesis Advantage stuff and affiliated) and it gets a LOT of crazy attention, people contact and ask me questions months later... I assume some of it is based on my delivery (I can market any idea, system, widget, etc) and some it an interest in something they know about but is oddly foreign....I get some pretty random jokes from girls... but then again that's how they flirt!
-
Reading through JDs steps was like a mini therapy session. It's amazing how accurate it really is. I'm between steps 5 and 6.
-
With my Kinesis Advantage I feel unique and efficient.

For me, I had fun learning what was out there, and decided to settle on having just a couple keyboards that I can switch between at home and at work. Ordered some aftermarket caps to dress up my boards a bit, but have since found new hobbies to entertain myself with.
