Title: Cherry MX Red Keyboard
Post by: Andaellyn on Wed, 17 April 2013, 16:37:02
I am looking to upgrading from my Razer Blackwidow keyboard.

I am interested in what is the most renowned mechanical keyboard manufacturer or what are the best keyboard choices that i have for Cherry MX Red switches.

The keyboard that i was most interested in was: Noppoo Choc Mini (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Noppoo-Choc-Mini-NKRO-Mechanical-Keyboard-Cherry-MX-Red-/250888280157) or Corsair K70 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823816010&Tpk=corsair%20k70&IsVirtualParent=1), but im looking for more options to choose from and i've heard bad things about corsair's mechanical keyboard history.

In that case, get a Ducky or Filco.

Been hearing good things about this one (http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=166)

I would definitely recommend ducky shine 2 if you are looking for a illuminated keyboard.

The red switches are great coming from a cheapo board.

Definitely Cherry 3494. I prefer MX Red without plate.

Ducky keyboards are awesome and have a lot of variety. Steelseries 6gv2 is also well liked. I had a corsair vengeance and it was meh, would only recommended corsair internals.

If you can find any of the above or other you may just go Blacks, for they can be quite cheap. Tis what I find myself wanting next, for the speedy snap back.

must...

resist...

If you're looking for the best keyboard brands/manufacturers then DO NOT get anything from Corsair. Their keyboards are absolute garbage. I learned the hard way. (I actually spent money on it)

Some of the best keyboard manufacturers are Ducky, Filco, Leopold, and WASD. WASD however does not sell red switch keyboards. Ducky has great quality keyboards with a lot of choices in size and LED colors. Duckys aren't too expensive either. The Filcos are hard to get and expensive because of shipping. They are VERY good keyboards though. I actually have a Filco Majestouch Ninja with red switches and am very happy with it. The Leopolds have quality keyboards as well coming in the 4 most common switches and in TKL and Full sizes. They are some of the cheaper keyboards in price mostly because they are very generic.

I have a WASD with reds, and I really like it, though it seems they're only selling brown/black/blue now :/
I also have a QFR in the mail, but I've been hearing great things about them, so I'm sure it'll be good.

Aside from that, I have a Filco with browns, and I must say it's by far the best board quality-wise - but they are expensive (I bought mine while I was in China, so I saved quite a bit).

Just like yourself, I started out with a Blackwidow, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you switch to WASD/Filco/CM QFR, the build quality of the Blackwidow is not very good - at least not on the early products.

They're only selling brown/black/blue because they're about to release the V2 and aren't ready to restock yet... OP, if you don't mind waiting this month out (and some of may), WASD could be a really good choice, sense its TKL aswell, great costar build, and completely custom.

If it were me, I would go premium with Filco, or go cheap with a QFR.

No compromises.

WASD FTW!

Everyone wants a WASD with red switches.  That is why they sold out.

An army of Chinese slave laborers  :p is no doubt busy building the next batch estimated ready for delivery in June.
