Title: UPDATE: Scammed on Geekhack
Post by: SinisterSquirl on Fri, 19 April 2013, 07:03:59
Old Thread: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=41098.msg819894#msg819894

Hello Geekhackers,

A few weeks ago I posted a thread noting how i got scammed by geekhacker AkuJIWA. Since he has failed to send the board, and has failed to contact me PERSONALLY but rather through his room mate i would like to ask Mods to revive the old thread (above) and see to it that repercussions will be made.

I would like to say that my keyboard (that i ordered from Geekhacker AkuJIWA since last January) has arrived in the mail, but sadly this has not happened. in addition to not accepting the board I am forced to continue talking to AkuJIWA indirectly through his roomate (whose account wont be mentioned) on matters such as my REFUND of $171.63.

Heed warning.

Its amazing how the replies and interest in my end of the transfer (after payment) has decreased dramatically on AkuJIWAs part. Often he gives excuses on why he cannot reply or get back to me. Now i am forced to talk to his room mate SINCE he has moved countries (???).

Heed warning.

I'm sorry to hear that. I can say that GH has seen only a few scams in the time that I've been here.

I am just asking as well. Genuinely curious because I've got a metric ton of PMs in my inbox and I haven't found the limit yet.

You're not alone. Kisakuku disappeared on me last year after I sent him my CCs =/. They'll never been seen ever again.

Not sure how Paypal in the Phillipines work, assuming you're being truthful about the matter, but these are the typical steps you follow for a GH Paypal transaction issue in the US:

step 1.) Did you gift the Paypal payment? [Yes, continue]  [No, goto step 3]
step 2.) SOL (shat outta luck), bemoan your loss to GH community, continue working the AkuJIWAs roomie angle [END]
step 3.) File a dispute with Paypal and go through with their procedure. [Yes, goto step 5] [No, continue]
step 4.) Stop wasting people's time with your melodramatic sob story. [END RANT]
step 5.) Did Paypal side with your case? [Yes, continue] [No, skip to step 7]
step 6.) AkuJIWAs SOL, U Winned [END RANT]
step 7.) Did you pay with a banking account/debit card? [Yes, goto step 2] [No, continue]
step 8.) Did you pay with a credit card? [Yes, goto step 10] [No, continue]
step 9.) WTF? [goto step 1]
step 10.) Reverse the charge with your credit card company. [Yes, continue] [No, goto step 4]
step 11.) Did the credit card company help reimburse you? [Yes, goto step 6] [No, goto step 2]

That's not completely true, if it's within 45 days you can still call Paypal and initiate a dispute. Seller has 10 days to respond or you are automatically awarded your payment back. However, it is still not a good idea to send payments as gifts, pay the $3 or whatever it is.

$3?

it's .30 USD + 2.9% of transaction

ie: .88 cents on $20

For this amount, $3 is closer to accurate, it's really more like 5.40ish though
