Post Your Switch History!
Which is your favorite? Which was your first?
Mine so far:
Browns-> Blacks-> Clears
At this point in time, I am in love with my clears on my poker. I think that ever since i have tried blacks, I have fallen in love with heavier cherry switches. I have yet to try Ergo Clears to compare, but i am not sure if i will like them. I have MX Whites coming in for my first GH60, but am still deciding on what to do for a second GH60.
anyway, post what your switch path is!
-
Browns ---> Whites (GH60 A)
\
-> Greens (GH60 B)
I'd be a lot further along my path but I've been waiting for an ISO 60% :D
-
Blues > Browns > Blacks > Reds > Buckling Springs > XM Alps > Greens > Clears > Ergo Clears > Whites > Capacitive Buckling Springs
I just love clicky switches. Clears and Whites are a product of trying to find something with less noise that gives me some tactility. But the noise and tactility combined form a great switch for me. I've loved Blues since I tried them, as well as BS, then CBS.

<TheQsanity> Browns--> Blues--> Reds--> Blacks--> Ergoclears-->...
favorite would have to be Reds and ergoclears.
Least would have to be Black.
-
I have a pathetic path as you know.
Blues-> Browns. Definitely regretting the switch as the bump isn't prominent enough in the browns. Blues were lovely but the noise pissed off my parents.
Going to try ergo-clears, ergo-whites and ergo-vintage blacks (is that even a switch?) next.
-
Oh god...I wish I had a nice linear one but the Chicago and Nashville meets really changed that. So I started like this
Blues -> Browns -> Blacks -> Reds
And then I tried most of the MX Cherrys and Alps besides MX Green and Complicated Blue Alps from the Mr. Interface Switch Try Bag. And then I tried everything else at MechanicalKeyboards.com and the Chicago meets. My thoughts on everything can be found in this link (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=42669.0).
My favorites right now: Blues, Whites, Clicky White Alps, and Buckling Springs.
And I own Blues, Whites, tactile Black Alps, clicky White Alps, and linear Black Alps
-
blues->blacks-> bs-> browns->reds->clears->more reds/browns-> ergoclears->blues->blues->blues->blues
I can't even keep tracking with all the keyboards I've owned in the past. I definitely like blues above all else, but ergoclears are nice too, I find the bump in browns is not enough for my liking.
-
I'd do ergoblues.
-
i would love to try out buckling springs! you guys have some awesome switch paths :p
-
Blue->Brown->Red->Ghetto-Green->Ergo-Clear->Brown->Black->Red->Brown.
I am waiting to build my ergo-dox with clear switches and my Epsilon with white switches. My first GH60 build will be with green switches.
I'll most likely never settle on just one switch as I like to mix it up to have a different feeling and sound from time to time. Maybe I'll narrow my list down from five switches to two, one day xD.
The wife wants to try buckling springs, so I will have to get a board with those eventually.

MX Brown -> MX Clear -> Topre: GG
-
MX Brown -> MX Clear -> Topre: GG
I have a feeling that this will be my path as well.
Edit - Well Ergo Clears
-
MX Brown -> MX Clear -> Topre: GG
I have a feeling that this will be my path as well.
JOIN US. Become one with cup rubber.

Dat Leopold F660C is a good start, for a reasonable price.

Microcenter has $5 rubber domes, no need to buy a topre for $250 :)
-
I think i need to try topre at a meetup before i drop $170+ on a keyboard :p

Various 8-bit and 16-bit mechanical (not powerful enough)
buckling spring (too loud and dumb terminal)
rubber domes (cheap pc's)
Mattias white (Felt cheap, US layout)
Cherry blue (DAS 2, too loud, echoey)
Alps white (DSI, major nkey problems)
Cherry blue (DAS 3, too loud, pingy)
buckling spring (too loud)
Topre (great feel but needs a deep click)
Cherry clear (we shall see)

Brown > Blue > Cherry ML > Ergo-clear > Black
By far, ergo-clears are my favorite, followed by browns. I initially liked blues, but after the novelty factor wore off, they sounded a bit over the top. I ended up giving my QFR with blues to my gf. She loves it and plans to one day get the valentines set for it. I would really love to try ergo-whites, so I may end up modding my browns to them.

For ownership, plunger domes -> spring over dome -> Green XM -> (back to regular domes) -> Black ALPS -> Buckling Spring -> MX Black. Tried out assorted others along the way, but never felt driven to purchase.
-
MX browns
Black ALPS
Buckling springs
MX greens
White ALPS
MX whites
Green ALPS
MX blacks
-
MX Red (too soft, bottomed out too much at first)
MX Brown (not enough bump kind of blah)
MX Blue (nice feel but too loud, my boss complained)
MX Clear (still deciding but so far I'm liking it)
-
a bit simplified.
bs in model m -> alps in aek2 -> blues -> clears -> ergo clears -> reds -> bs -> topre -> matias dampened ****alps -> reds -> bs -> ergo clears, end of story.
the best of those are reds and ergo clears.
-
things I like - MX - reds, blues, blacks, whites, greens/ ALPS - only had experience and like matias switches / Topre - uhhh they topre different weight... meh / BS
how I came to this conclusion - They aren't MX Browns, or clears... did I mention that mx tactiles aren't that good?
-
blue -> topre -> red and hopefully soon white ^^ I've got high hopes for white cause I really liked blue but disliked the sound
I think topre has been the best so far.
-
Mine has been Brown → Black → Ergo Clears → stiffer Ergo Clears.
I've never liked Blues or Reds and am on the fence about Browns. Love my Blacks and Clears and want to give Whites, Alps, and Topre a try. I'm debating about getting some Blues once I have more money (or if I can trade for them) and tossing a little bit of grease on the stem and using a Clear spring to make a not quite Ergo White, but not quite white switch.

I love my Blacks and Clears...
Clears are my favorite as of right now, but i did pick up some whites to try, and they should get here soon
i do want to experiment and try out panda clears...i might really like them

Mech switch history: Buckling spring → Browns → Reds → Space invaders → Blues → Ergo clears
I grew up on BS boards, my dad got them for free from his publisher I think. Then I was rubber doming it for a long time until I rediscovered mechanical boards. I really really love space invaders, but ultimately it's a tie between ergo clears and reds as I need both for separate occasions.
-
Buckling spring -> Rubber dome -> MX Brown -> MX Blue -> MX Red -> MX Black
-
complicated white ALPS (my first truly mechanical switches IIRC)
Cherry MX Black
Cherry MX Red (until now)
I've also briefly used many other switches including Cherry ML, MX Blue, MY, buckling spring etc.
