Im very close to buy one of these, but compared to brown stem cherrys, is it a good buy?

I think it's an excellent buy. The Alps black switches are nice - they are similar to the white Alsp switches but they don't click. Don't think that that means they aren't loud though because they are. The brown Cherry switch is nice, but it's not a "tactile" switch.

I was thinking about buying one of these myself but the Japanese layout has kept me from it.

hmmm... I could use some schooling on alps. what types are there, white and black? what's the diff, and how do they compare to (blue) cherries and topre capacitive?
