Yep. it's really dirty and the spacebar sometimes double fires. the switches appear to be black alps light tactile non clicky. feels decent. was going to remove all the caps to clean it but the second one i attempted to remove ripped the whole switch out :/

It's a MicroConnectors D07-135. I had one in orange. These were made a while back, but I believe MicroConnectors still has some stock left over on sale for very cheap.
It's not a super-solid board, as you discovered, and it's aggressively 2KRO, but it's quite a bargain at current prices, and I'd have one over a Ducky 1008xm in an instant.

Yup. Those are iMac era too, as I recall, no? Hence the fruity colors. (Shush, Mac owners. Get over it.)

it's not bad, but the alps switches feel like the bump is at the very top which makes me miss a lot of keystrokes. and the 3rd row from the top feels much stiffer than the rest. but for 2 dollars i cant really complain

Yep. I have a theory, which is that the reason why these are still available and so cheap is that they must have gotten caught out by the change in style, and found themselves stuck with a bunch of unfashionable keyboards.
I guess that every now and then, they must still sell one, though, because their website (http://www.microconnectors.com/servlet/the-INPUT-DEVICES/Categories) was recently updated, and now only has pink, purple, green, and orange. No surprise that it's the gray that has sold out.

Yeah, maybe not even remotely close to what I was saying and about five thousand times more offensive than what I actually was saying.
So you know. Way to go there yourself, being the ignorant bigot who only sees it as a gay slur.
Why don't you go write some misogynistic and racist rants on HN. They love that crap.

It would not at all surprise me. The whole multi-color thing was a terrible idea from start to finish. I don't know a single pre-fruit or post-"ALUMINUM EVERYTHING" Mac owner who liked the fruit era styling. (Except for the hipsters who think it's "ironic.")
But IIRC, they're the ones who also made a keyboard to go with the "Flower Power" chassis I think it was. I want to see that keyboard. Also what happened to the person who came up with that design - my gods, talk about eye-bleedingly bad.

I liked the coloured iMacs :)
Although I never owned one, they were too expensive for me at the time. And now they are too slow, although I did consider getting a pink one for my daughter.

that era of apple was really strange. the earlier computers looked nice. idk what they were thinking

They were thinking "hey, customers want to lick plastic and imagine it's blueberries or strawberries or grapes."
Either that or "duuuuuuuuuuuude, look at these colors."

^ the latter.
Back then everything, including older Macs, were boring beige boxes.
These were different.
Although not everyone was enticed by Mac OS (Classic).

they were. one pin ripped right out of the switch and the other ripped out of the solder. it's just cheap.
