Title: Anyone owns a CM Storm Trigger with Costar stabilizer?
Post by: Hyde on Sun, 12 May 2013, 00:53:03
I've been told that the older batch were Cherry stabilizers since Costar stabilizers cannot fit with switches with LED.  But they invented new ones that fit so the new Trigger does have Costar Stabilizers.

Anyone have any pictures that shows what the difference are between old Costar stabilizers and new Costar stabilizers?

Hrm, had my Trigger for couple months, so I assume its fairly recent.  All the larger keys have cherry style support switches, but I can take a photo if you can see some form of new mechanism from that.

Ahhh then I think the one you had used Cherry stabilizers, seems like no one I know that owns a Trigger with Costar stabilizers.

I wonder if I should ask CM reps about that lol.

I'd check with them, yeah.

Woah, where did you read that Triggers came with Costar stabs?

I believe they are made by Costar (according to Carter) but have Cherry stabilizers for all the larger keys.  At least in terms of appearance (without looking under the plate)... unless there's some Cherry-Costar hybrid for stabilizers that looks like Cherry :)  Maybe this rumored new batch is not out yet but would be included with updated black casing? *completely hypothetical*  Would be best to ask a CM rep directly.

My friend purchased one about a month ago and it had Cherry stabs so I don't think they've moved to costar just yet.

I think Hyde might have read something incorrectly. As far as I know, Triggers are made by Costar but do not have their stabilizers, they have Cherry's instead.

Well I vaguely remember Carter mention that Costar didn't have the ability to do LED + Costar stabilizer because the middle part will hit the LED as it turns.  But now they've modified it so now they are actually capable of doing Costar stabilizer + LED.

But yeah maybe I'll send Carter or Rajiv a message or something.

I read a while ago at Reddit that new triggers had Costar stabilizers, but maybe it was just a hoax.

It isn't a myth. I believe the Mionix Zibal 60 is a mx black, green backlit costar board + costar stabs.

It is not. The marketing name for Costar's backlit reference design is the "Day 2."
