Mr Frustrated here.
I have had Comcast for my cable TV for years, and Bellsouth (now AT&T, of course) for telephone and internet. My internet was awful until about 10 years ago when they ran fiber to my area and I got a decent DSL.
Now, since AT&T bought Bellsouth a few years ago, my DSL has gone steadily downhill. With a wife and 2 teenagers all online, it can get abysmal.
Both Comcast and AT&T charge ridiculous prices, but I have been reluctant to combine TV cable, landline, and internet for some sort of "Big Brother" type of emotion, but the expense is out of hand. I know that I will save at least $50 per month if I bundle the lot all together.
I would like to hear a comparison between Comcast and AT&T in terms of price, hardware service, and customer service. Bellsouth was great but AT&T is awful, at least around the Atlanta area.
Cable TV is not a big concern, something like "expanded basic" service is plenty for me - we don't watch sports and don't use premium channels, but do need a good reliable DVR that can record multiple channels simultaneously.
PS - I will not consider satellite although I know that it is cheap, because it is unreliable in this area in bad weather.

I was in the same boat as you. Combining the three services and giving it all to Comcast is an uneasy feeling. Be sure to look closely, as the rates are usually bait and switch after a year. All that said, it turned out to be a wash price wise but with much better service. The cable modem performance blows DSL out of the water and the phone service rates are much better than AT&T, who nickel and dime you to death any time you make a non A band call.
