mkawa was so kind to proxy me two M0110 in very (very) bad shape. The idea was to deeply clean them and use a Teensy as a controller. I was able to make one working keyboard out of two, of course lowpoly's famous M0110 project has been of great inspiration, but mine has some differences (the controller daughter board mainly).
This is how it looked when it reached me (actually I took this photo after a first pass of cleaning):

Step 1: desolder, open switches, clean, lube

Step 2: wiring

Step 3: wiring done!

Step 4: controller, on the right you can see I've placed a sort of daughter board with the controller. I used a dremel'd piece of the original PCB on the left as a standoff

This is how the controller looks from above

The USB connector epoxy glued inside the original RJ connector

After 8 hours of retr0bright, this is how the keyboard looks now!

Since I've been asked multiple times, my formula for retr0bright is ~60 vol peroxide + some Vanish oxi action
Mission accomplished!
Level up!

Looking amazing Matt30. Nice work. I was wondering if you could tell me what switches are in the M0110 and what gauge wire you used. I thought that the M0110 had Salmon Alps but the switch picture looks different.

thanks.
the switches are linear and pretty stiff. I'd say approx MX black stiff.
Wire is 1/0.6mm to wire columns, no clue what's the US equivalent for that. To connect rows/cols to the controller I used an IDE cable I had left :)

Ohh so the IDE cable would be split up and then connected to a Teensy right? Just like the Lowpoly post?

Hehe, thanks for the knowledge Matt30. I really love the projects you've been putting out lately. I'm still drooling over that order form from the Retro DSA and your Steel Beauty brings a tear to my eye every time I see it :D

i sourced the donor boards for this project, and i have to say, matt3o is a miracle worker. those things were so dirty and yellowed when i got them from the recyclers that i seriously didn't want to touch them. the result looks better than any other picture of a brand new m0110 i've ever seen. a-freaking-mazing

Looks a lot like Lowopoly's M0110! Congrats!

Wow the wiring looks amazing! Great job on the project.
