Good afternoon all. My search for a more ergonomic keyboard (currently using a Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/natural-ergonomic-keyboard-4000)) led me here, so I figured I would make introductions and offer thanks for providing such a wonderful trove of information.
Currently I am investigating the following:
- Maltron 3d (http://www.maltron.com/shop.html?page=shop.browse&category_id=50)
- Kinesis Advantage (http://www.kinesis-ergo.com/advantage.htm)
- Truly Ergonomic (http://www.trulyergonomic.com/store/index.php)
- Variants of the Key64 such as ErgoDox
- And just a complete DIY
My goals are the following (at the moment, they change as I have become educated):
- Mechanical (I miss using a Model M) -- not set on a particular switch style, though linear seems like the best fit for me currently
- Quiet as possible
- Blank keycaps -- not a huge deal, but my definite preference
- Independent thumb buttons -- I would like to try out the Malt keyboard layout
- Split/separated
- nkro -- not sure how valuable this is to me, but it seems worthwhile
