Title: Have anyone tried colorful PCBs?

i did some research on the solder mask and don't have any idea until i saw this thread

have anyone tried? i really want any color PCB!

Shouldn't be too hard. Look at mainboards and graphics cards, white, blue, red, black, all over the place (and those platines are _slightly_ more complicated than a keyboard^^). May be hard to dye it yourself, but any manufacturer should be able to color it.

I have also heard about people using RIT dye, but this is much simpler.

Huh.  Just tried it with black Sharpie on a red Race daughter card.  I don't have nail polish remover, so I used actual acetone.

And the acetone wiped the ink right off, except for a few streaks and discolorations left behind.

FAIL.

This technique requires an un-finished PCB, no lacquer on top.  So you have to etch your own PCB first.

Are you inferring there are inaccurate videos on YouTube?  Why, that renders them as trustworthy as a telemarketer or a Fox "News" commentator.
