Title: apple juice....
Post by: attackcow on Sat, 25 May 2013, 22:45:24
Alright well long story short I spillt some apple juice over my KBT Pure (I really want to cut my dumb ****ing hand off for doing this) but it's all good now. Works perfectly now after letting it dry out for a day, but there's one small problem (which you probably can already guess what it is.)

I have a couple of keys that are now sticky :( It's the L-Ctrl and L-Windows key that are sticky and don't press down and come back up as fast and cleanly as the rest of the keyboard. It's especially jarring when copying and pasting and selecting all text in a box :(

What can I do to solve this problem? I know it's something to do with the switches themselves and I don't have any compressed air with me right now. I've heard of just drenching the thing in alcohol or something but I don't have pure alcohol with me either LOL.

What can I do?

well, since it's a pure, just open the switch and rinse it out with alcohol.

do it with the board upside down. :D

With a fork ;D Might have to remove the leds first though.

I don't have any LED's on mine except for the Caps-Lock keys :D No need for LEDs when I've already been touch typing for years and years :)

But this sounds like an easy enough fix! Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

I came across this video today... Maybe it will help you, or maybe not :) I'm still new to this stuff.

Ah... no don't do it like that... Make the korean clips.

You need pliers

It's better if you have an anvil and rubber top hammers.. but... pliers will do.  :D

no disrespect... just saying, the way it's done in that other video, is dangerous, because you can crack the housing that way.

Speaking of taking switches apart how do you take apart an Alps switch?
