So, does any one know rings that are thin enough to fit..
How bout those "thin" 40a red ones on WASDkeyboard..
Anyone try them?
-
The thinner red ones will be fine. The blue/black ones I think reduce the travel too much..but some people may like it like that...

you've tried them? do you have calipers? could you take the thickness?
-
From the WASD website, it says that red O-rings are .2mm and blue/black are .4mm. I have a sampler kit and I prefer the reds the best.
-
Either one is fine. When I put 2, even thinner than WASD, keycap pops up when I spam too hard :p

I have some WASD o-rings and calipers. 1.4mm for red, and 1.8mm for blue and black.
Keep in mind that's thickness. Travel reduction is less than that because the o-rings are round and the keys don't land perfectly on the vertical diameter.

Here's what I had in the past. The WASD thicker ones are the "A" size, the thinner ones are "H". The ones you'd want for imsto's thick PBT caps is the "D" size. I found these are the thinnest you can have them while still being effective as O-rings. If you put these on normal stock caps, then do nothing because they're too thin to even hit the bottom. On the imsto caps, if you use any size other than "D", you get a significant reduction in travel distance.
The "D" size is 1mm thick.

Which of these are IMSTO's silicone o-rings? I'm guessing the thickest red and the second thickest? Not sure where to find D. (Will look for your original post).

Awesome info guys.. THANKs....

Thanks for the caliping khaanga :D

anyone knows where to get cheap orings? Amazon sells them but only blacks.

Unfortunately, almost all non-keyboard O-rings are for industrial purposes and are much harder than what we want.

Actually, it depends. I don't like them (linear Cherry MX + Cherry DS). Technically, it would be possible to use even the black o-rings, though.

70A o-rings exist, but they're usually either too big, or too small. I wouldn't mind very thin, this hard ones only to slightly dampen the sound. I don't want reduced key travel.

oh :o can we have a scissor feeling with a lot of them :o ????

Oh.. yea, of it's possible..
On my oem profile pbt, I was rocking 2mm silicone ghetto-rings, which reduced travel by 1.3mm or so. 2.7mm travel is close to the lenovo scissors
It won't be like the new Apple scissor which honestly feel like 1mm travel.
The only issue is thick pbt because it's cherry profile, so there's not a great deal of room for the orings..
