Title: Have you noticed key presses produce a slightly different musical tone ..
Post by: fateswarm on Sun, 02 June 2013, 04:11:05
.. depending on key location on a steel plate? I wonder if a musical genious has mapped such differences and was able to play something with it.

It will sound horrible I'm sure but why not.

Sometimes my random APM spam will go with the tempo of the song I'm listening to and it sounds like I'm making music.

It is very different indeed. I just tried pressing the arrow keys and they all make different sound. position on the plate, position "regarding the case" and keycap material have some influence in this.

I guessed material is of little importance since it's supposed to be the same. But location on a stiff plate must play an important role in vibrations propagation on and out of the plate.
