Title: I'd like to get a new keyboard for around $100 to $120
Post by: sailerboy on Tue, 04 June 2013, 11:23:07
I was thinking between the Storm Trigger, the Ducky DK2018, or the Rosewill RK-9000I. I'm not closed minded about this, and I'm perfectly willing to consider any other reccomendations, or comments on my choices so far. Here are my requirements

Laptops and backlights? Take a look at this (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=44060.msg914850#msg914850).

It may happen.

I'd rather get a new keyboard. I know it's silly, but my credit card doubles the manufacturer warranty if I buy new. I'd like a full 10key yes.

My laptop provides the full 500 mAmps on the USB2 ports, and the full 900 mAmps on the USB3 port. I verified this with a multimeter when I was using my laptop to power my microcontrollers.  I'm not going to have that issue.

I originally had a limit of $80, but I managed to find some more money. Those were the three left over from that limit. I thought I would include them.

  • $120 ceiling (HARD). I'm not budging above this price, including shipping and tax.
  • Cherry MX Blues
  • Backlight optional, but if there is a backlight, the entire board must be backlit, not just WSAD keys
  • USB (I need to be able to use this on my laptop)
  • Absolutely, positively no recommendations from Binge

Wait three weeks and buy a Ducky Zero Shine if you do end up wanting the backlight.  On pccasegear.com they are preselling for $109.

The issue was that it's very likely that they violate the standard and go beyond that. It's quite common actually. The fact that the USB standard has political and market pressure to allow chargers to go above 500mA might give more excuses for manufacturers to go beyond it.

You should probably do what the post above suggests, but here's another recommendation!
