Title: Troble deciding
Post by: LlamaZorz on Sun, 03 August 2008, 18:27:53
So I wrote the review found here http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=658  in which i review the Das Ultimate and the Endurapro.  Even thogh the review actually favors the Das in terms of numbers I am still having a tough time deciding on which one I want to keep and use as my main keyboard.

Like I said in the review I mostly use the keyboard for typing our arguments/debates, programming, and some gaming.

But when i way the pros and cons of each board I really cant decide.  Such as the Das may type faster but the Endurapro has a lot more tactile feedback.

Maybe you guys can help me decide.

Are you favoring one in particular right now?

Some here prefer the buckling springs to Cherry or Alps mechanicals.   Others feel the opposite.  It's all up to what you enjoying typing on more.  Which do YOU prefer?

No one can make that decision for you.
However, it sounds like you can't decide. That tells me that at this moment you like both boards, but feel the need to decide on one.
Why?
Flip a coin, heads is the Das, tails is the Unicomp. Run that board for a week.
Seriously, one whole week. Put the other keyboard in the closet, and forget about it.
Then switch to the other board, run that one for a whole week.

You will then be in a better position to make a decision.
Trust me, I have been there, I know what its like.

Do what I suggested in the review thread, and run the EnduraPro for a week. It needs that week to break in, and loosen up. :)

Do what everyone else here does, buy more keyboards. Then you can keep both because one more or less doesn't matter anymore.

I honestly think I like the Das better due to the chunkiness of the Endurapro and the endura is not great for gaming.  I am trying to wear in though.

Sounds like you are sort of liking the Das over the Unicomp : )

The Unicomp will always seem clunky to you versus the Das.

I have both myself, the Das takes a lot less force to actuate the key, it is very light overall. Whereas the Unicomp will never be that light.
It will break in a bit, but its still  a BS keyboard, you will get lots of feedback on the downstroke and your fingers will get pushed back up on the upstroke. The Das doesn't do that at all.

I prefer my Unicomp keyboard over the Das, but thats just my personal choice. The Das is a fine keyboard in its own way. Use what you like : )
