Title: [WTB] Alps Keyboards
Post by: morpheus on Thu, 06 June 2013, 20:46:17: Basically just looking for some Alps Keyboards that are in good to new condition, meaning no sticky substances in the keys, or broken keys.

If you could upload a pic on this thread, I'd appreciate it ;D

Any type.

But preferably something similar to the ones in the Dell AT101W. I have one but I had to shelve it because the keyboard was D.O.A. (dirty on arrival), as well as the space bar was FUBAR.

Also, looking for light switches, similar to Cherry MX Brown or Red (45g).

PS - The board itself is fairly crap. Decent key caps tho.

Does it feel similar to the Dell AT101W? Also, why is the board crap? Sort of makes me want to pursue older vintage boards instead.

The caps feel nice, but yes they can be fragile I broke 2 removing them from switches. The entire board is pretty fragile. The plate is flimsy and the switches aren't fully against the PCB in a lot of places. Replacing the switches helped, but I don't have a complete board to feel the overall effect since my case is quite dead.

My point behind recommending it which I didn't state explicitly but did mention... you wanted something near browns force level, XM Greens are what you are looking for.

I don't think I removed the case to look at the PCB and switches build quality. I've been using one of the 1000 XM boards at home for the past week or so, it's definitely a much lower quality, with the caps having a lot of wobble. Maybe I should try putting another one of my alps compatible cap sets to see if it's the caps or the switches causing the wobble (probably both tbh)
