Following on from the avatar size discussion, some ideas came up to enhance users' profile pages...
Maybe a profile picture. Could be a huge version of your avatar, if you chose.
Or maybe a full post, so you could use all the bbcode to format stuff. Could be like a mega-signature, if you chose, and avoid having to squash lots of info into your normal sig.
Another crazy thought I just had - how about having bookmarks that are stored on the forum? Maybe with a option to make some/all of them public so other users can see your interests. In any case, there could be lots of advantages over saving bookmarks in your browser, such as being able to see more than just the title of the post when you look through them (i.e. author, reply number, date, etc).
What might people want? What's potentially achievable?

The full-size profile pic and post for sure. But shareable bookmarks sounds like a LOT of work for Rknize, and I wouldn't use them myself.

I think the profile 'post' would be instead of a pic... or maybe not?

A profile pic and post should be able to live in harmony. The layout of the current profile would likely be moved around to fit a large pic with the information to a side. And the post would be below that, you would just have to scroll down.

This profile page idea would have been a great alternative to the recent increase in avatar size from 100x100 to 150x150. If people really want to show off their avatar with an increase in size, then they could put a huge one in their profile among other info.

You have the choice to choose the maximum avatar size now... It's a setting in your profile, so use it and stop complaining.

What's wrong with the Wiki user pages that we can already get?

So you want to clutter the wiki with things like the 8000px version of The_Ed's avatar? Doesn't sound like the right place for this kind of stuff, to me!

I didn't think the user pages were searchable in the GH Wiki. I thought we had to direct link to view them. And why would the pictures be a bad thing if its on our user page?

They still show in the list of all pages, and maybe other special pages. Imagine trying to use those, if they were filled with 1000s of user pages!

I haven't ever looked at a user profile, do people?
Sure... I use it to see when someone was last active, or to see their sig (since I have them turned off). Also
to get at the 'Show Posts' link, partly because it's handy, and partly becasue the advanced search won't let you do it there!
Otherwise it's a chicken and egg thing... if there was more there to see, more would use it, I think.

Why did you lock it anyway? If anyone has further comments about avatar size it's a fine place to add them. But you may as well lock the threads that came before it.

The option to choose was implemented, and you took up the second part in this thread. Rknize is unlikely to implement support for 184 pixels until there is a major overhaul.

Meh, whatever. I just don't see why threads should be locked unless there's some specific reason to prevent further posting in them, which there isn't for that one. If it's really now dead, it will fall into the depths anyway, even if it's not locked.

But yeah a few more options as have been mentioned on the profile page would be interesting.
