Can't even reserve posts in your own thread now, because someone jumps in before you can post again...

-
yes. please remove or reduce to 20 secs please.
now i can't even respond to PM. >:D >:D
-
Yeah a reduction would be greatly appreciated.
The worst thing is when I hit send and the error pops up, my typed message disappears so I have to retype that if I didn't Ctrl+C.
-
It's so annoying, especially since the counter resets if you jump the gun and send early (for pm's at least)
It makes replying to everyone in a timely matter a chore that doesn't need to be there.
-
Especially PMs.......
Now I need to spend time waiting to tick by till I send my reply crafted within 10 seconds
-
I agree about the aggravation respond to PM's and since this 40 second thing I've had a hard time posting pictures from Tapatalk because it just keeps giving me the popup that I'm posting too soon.
-
And now I can't send a special someone 600 PMs in a reasonable time. How will I know if she's hurt or not?

Is that a moose star? :o

Exalted Elder Moose.

It's a very nice moose! Also maybe 40 second rule until you hit your 60 posts?

No doubt she's waiting for you to call.
Try calling back once every minute.

Just Elevated so far. Want that Silver Star? Or Pink or Cyan?

No thank you, sir. I'm quite content with what I currently have.
Back on topic, can we at least know the reasoning behind this new change?
-
I have to agree with this suggestion. It also seems like the 40 seconds start over each time you try.

What? They do?
Now this is excessive......

I thought I was getting a pink/cyan star! >=(
On topic the 40 second thing killed me when I had a sale.
-
Grrr! Stupid stars, gtfo!!
At least you should be able to post in threads you started with no time restrictions, please.
-
Maybe you guys should limit the 40s rule to the same recipient.....if you really want to prevent spamming
EDIT: for PMs, that is
-
yeah the 40 second rule sucks, and i swear then 40 seconds resets sometimes when you try and post within the 40 seconds
i also wish if you edited an op it bumped the thread, as it stands now if you want to add something to the original post you still need to then post and bump the end of the thread so people can see the op has changed
-
I concur that the rule sucks, but I said this in the feedback section and SpamRay showed me that 40 seconds is to prevent the 16 posts/per day type of thing.
-
I agree with this request, not with just public posts but also PMs. I understand it's to prevent spamming. But sometimes when I haven't logged in for a whole day or more, I have to answer PMs quicker and that time interval limitation is quite annoying. I posted this request somewhere else too.

^^ Yes this makes the goal of 100 posts per hour impossible :'(
-
The 40 seconds rule destroys answering PMs. I sometime have 1 minute to reply to PMs and now I can't do that because I can only reply to 2. It's absurd.
-
So annoying! After this pops up, the PM needs to be retyped, it doesn't get saved >:(

-
Seriously, make it 20 seconds or something. :(
-
Solution - Use phone, turn off wifi, repost using 3G/4G. That's what I do :p

Yeah this was kind of annoying. Needed to respond to some PM's , had to go find something to do in between PM's... ended up starting to read a manga chapter because it took so long. 7 PMs took me almost 10 minutes.

You can type a PM in under 40 sec on a phone? WITHOUT SWITCHES?

With Swype? Absolutely!!! But I also use my GNote2 w/ external monitor and keyboard sometimes ;)
Edit - Make that Swype + Tapatalk. Posting in a browser with phone is painful lol
Edit 2 - If you do not have Tapatalk, I will buy it for you WFD. Simply send me a PM with a request for it lol :)

Jocelyn always pimping out Tapatalk :p
But yes I often shoot off PM's and make posts within 40 seconds even on my phone.
The biggest annoyance I have had is when attempting to post photos from tapatalk and using forum hosting it seems to count adding the photo as a post and you have to wait 40 seconds to even try and post or it just gets stuck in a loop.
-
I'm just replying to say I agree this is stupid, maybe remove it for people with more than x amount of posts, since I'm assuming this is to prevent new accounts from spamming people...
-
So only the more established members can spam?

Exactly!

I know I provided a half-assed solution on the last page, but I am in total agreement with you. It's a PITA for sure!
-
If there must be a delay, how about a shorter delay for established members (> 1000 posts?) and a longer delay for less established?

Good Lord, that's an awful idea. Guaranteed way to discourage new members.

There is already a 40 second delay for everyone.

some staff members were becoming concerned with the number of double (and triple!) posts that were popping up from a few users; we didn't expect such a negative global reaction. the timer has been set back to 10s. we will continue to monitor the situation. remember, there's a fine line between being prolific and just spamming ;))
