I am about to pull the trigger for a new mouse for work and wanted to get your opinion on the Logitech Performance MX Mouse. I was about to purchase the mouse until I saw the Razer Mamba 2013. This is for a work application in which I navigate many windows at the same time while making outbound phone calls. I just earned a position at a tech company so I want it to look cool too. In your opinion, which mouse has the best optics and build quality? Thank you in advance for your answers!

Not the Mamba. That is all. Seriously, of all the 15+ mice I have the Mamba is one of the two mice I actually regret buying. That said mine isn't the 2013, but if you want the Mamba, get the DeathAdder 2013 instead since it's better in every way. Though the shape of the Logitech should be better suited for your kind of work, and will look more professional than a gaming mouse, so that's my personal recommendation.
Just don't get the Mamba, please.
Edit; I will say this for the Mamba, though; unboxing it is a fantastic experience, the packaging makes it feel like it's worth the money while you're opening it. Then you start using it and find out that it's a really stupid mouse and should've gotten a DA instead.

I had a MX revolution and I didn't like it, but maybe the one you want is different.
But all I can say is that the deathadder 2013 is amazing.

if you like the mx,wireless and lots of buttons. the g700s imo is a much nicer mouse than the mx. the g700s does not look that crazy. if I were set on the mx I would get the g700s. it is a better mouse in every respect. it also tends to work on surfaces other mice will not. since it auto focuses. it is very programmable. I use the g500s because I prefer a wire but overall the g700s is nicer. maybe not the best for a skilled gamer. I am a programmer and it suits my needs fine. it seems all the really good features only find their way into gaming mice. btw, the free-wheel is indispensable to me for coding. the mx is a fine mouse but the g700s is nicer for the same msrp.

I had an MX Performance and got a faulty button and took it back, it felt odd and looked cheap compared to the older Revolution. Which at the time, I still had 2 of. When one Revolution died (one is for my desktop, the bluetooth version for the laptop), I mixed the two together to make one good one, and bought a g700. Other than working on glass, I got the impression that the Performance was not much of an upgrade to the Revolution, but a way to bring in the new technology, and in order to do so, they cut costs elsewhere. The Revolution was a great mouse, and they are actually pretty well cherished by owners and command a good price still because of it.
As for the g700, I dislike the looks of it (and the newer S) and it took a bit to adjust to the feel, but as Typo said, it actually is a better mouse. I thought it felt and looked cheap, but that's only the outside, after taking one apart, it couldn't be further from the truth. Inside is a VERY well made mouse. On top of what Typo said, you can use it wired or wireless, and even uses a common nihm battery that is easily replaced if you are in a jam. Like i said, I don't care for the looks, or need the extra buttons, but really, it's a fantastic mouse once you get past those two things. Arguably the best wireless mouse on the market, and in my opinion, one of the best mice made in general.
I do recommend upgrading the battery though, I put a 2700mah in mine and it can handle 12+ of hard work, at mid to high resolution.

I swear I just mentioned taking it apart in some other thread. lol. I also swear to everyone other mice are not built this way. the scroll wheel innards make it look like it should cost $300.
sure, people had switches fail. there is always a lemon. they are stinking Omron japan. the same ones other companies go out of their way to call "premium".
I am not being a fanboy I am just stating how it is built.

Just to chime in here, my mouse is an MX Performance Mouse, and I can wholeheartedly say it's an absolute beast. It's been dropped on the floor several times and hasn't skipped a beat since. I will say that it's not as ergonomic as the last MX mouse they had, but it's still a very comfortable device. My favorite thing about it though is the thumb button located on the left side on the bottom rubber textured part. I use this to close tabs in Firefox and I'm not sure I could live without it.
Overall, it's probably the best peripheral I've bought for my computer since I built it! I'd say definitely get one!

I like wireless too. But im kinda anal on responsiveness, but if i ever see a mouse like func with wired + wireless functionality, I'll gladly buy it.

I used Logitech M510 wireless mouse. The shape is awful, the response is horribly high. I recently switched back to my Logitech G9 and the time between click and reaction on the screen equals almost zero. With M510 it's almost half a second, maybe more. ANd it snoozes every five minutes. After that you must wait for 1 second for the mouse to be awaken. And wireless mice are pretty heavy, which kind of a problem, when you use the cloth pad - they tend to dive in...

I have used the Performance Mouse MX as my office mouse for years now and love it. It tracks beautifully on any surface I can throw under it, and the weighted scroll wheel saves tons of effort scrolling through large documents. It significantly reduced my wrist pain, too. (Before, I used a less-extreme ergonomic mouse from Microsoft.)
I get 1-2 weeks of 8-hour-a-day office use out of a charge. I've used it at home for gaming, too, and it seems fine to me, though I am not even remotely a hardcore gamer.
(Note: I use it on Mac now, used to use it on Windows. Customizability is slightly greater on Windows, but Windows' retarded scrolling makes the fast scroll wheel less useful on that platform than on Mac.)

I'm a huge fan of the performance MX. The ergonomics are wonderful. I had a tracking problem and they sent me a new one, no questions asked. They even let me keep the old one for parts.

have an older one i have had for years and still works flawless, holds a good charge and never have had to replace battery
