Cherry MX Clear Plate Mount MX1A-C1NN
$0.69 apiece
Shipping to CONUS: $5.80 small flat rate box (unless you buy more switches than will fit in it) via USPS
Shipping elsewhere: ask
I am in need of some Cherry MX Clear switches, and unfortunately, Pexon's recent GB fell through.
We have already reached OnlineComponents MOQ of 500 pieces for a total of $0.69 per switch:
Product Link (http://www.onlinecomponents.com/cherry-electrical-mx1ac1nn.html?p=11075427)
I am in the US. I am open to shipping international if all of my cost is covered. You cover shipping from me to you - thats it.
The maximum number of switches I'll order for this GB will be 1158. This is to keep shipping cost to 2x flat rate boxes ($400 max order per box). Total available is listed below.

I've bought from clears from them before. Make sure you account for state tax. I believe they charge tax in most states.
-
Not saying that you are not trust worthy, but you are a new member to the site and people may be weary of buying.
Also, FWIW, ask JDCarpe for his TaoBao Clear source, I believe there was no MOQ and it was .50-something a switch IIRC.

Cheaper than that, but it's dead.
-
Boo, he had it just the other week!
-
Good point, WhiteFireDragon. Added the extra $0.06 to each switch to compensate.
Also a good point, SmallFry. I'm aware it is a long shot but it doesn't seem like there is anything else viable going on. Gotta start somewhere...
-
I understand also, GLWGB, of course. I didn't mean it in a bad way whatsoever. Always good to see new members jumping off the deep end. :D
-
Are switches .79 each with or without tax? Anyway, I'm in.
edit: nevermind, reread the OP and got it now.
-
Hey Ryan Uber!
Should you not reach the MOQ, I can help you out and send you the clears for 0.54 EUR (~$0.72) per switch, by end of July, for just 4 EUR ($5.31).
:-)
-
Updated post to be more clear about tax.
7bit, thanks, if this doesn't pan out, I'll definitely PM you about that! Curious, how many do you have available?

I'm pretty certain 7bits clear's are all pre-order and I already placed my switch orders from 7bit since pexon closed his group buy or else I'd offer to help with buying these.

Wish I'd seen this earlier :(

As far as I can tell, there is no sales tax from Mouser for shipping to Illinois - I'm tempted to just order 500 and sell what I don't need via classifieds, although I don't want to undermine the GB...
Shipping to the buyer from Mouser is pretty cheap, too - there is a $5 low cost USPS option (although I'd probably do the $7 USPS priority mail option). So, 500 switches would cost $371.99, effective switch price would be approx 74.4 cents per switch. Assuming GB participants don't order more than 100 or so switches, you could ship these out to US-based GB participants via a USPS priority mail small flat rate box for $5.15.
I also found onlinecomponents.com, which is a bit cheaper ($0.69 per switch for 500+): http://www.onlinecomponents.com/cherry-electrical-mx1ac1nn.html?p=11075427 (http://www.onlinecomponents.com/cherry-electrical-mx1ac1nn.html?p=11075427) - shipping for 500 switches would be $9.95, so $354.99/500 = about $.71 per switch - anyone ever use them as a vendor before?
-
Wow - sounds great Dianoda. I would also be interested in purchasing from onlinecomponents. If no one chimes in with anything negative about them, perhaps we should switch the vendor for this buy to them.
Looks like the cheapest postage rate within the US will be $6.35 via USPS. So with a $0.69 switch price and no tax, it seems like a pretty sweet deal.
-
Boo, he had it just the other week!
Yeah, like a dummy I posted a link in the IRC, and now they are all gone. No one even said thanks.

Where they 'new' or 'used'?
And JD I sent you a pm yesterday! ;)

Bah... I could have definitely gotten 60 switches if I'd known. Great price :(

I'll sign aboard, and cross my fingers that this goes somewhere.

I'd be up for this!
-
Can anyone tell if either site charges tax to Florida? With toxic pushed so far back I could easily host a MX Clear buy.
-
However this ends up happening, I'm interested in ~60 MX Clear switches that could be mounted in a Filco with a plate :) As cheap as possible :D
-
We are already almost at the MOQ of 500. I updated the main post with total switches and orders so far. We could get this going even earlier than anticipated and get the $0.69/swich pricing if no one who has already ordered would object to buying from http://www.onlinecomponents.com/cherry-electrical-mx1ac1nn.html?p=11075427 (http://www.onlinecomponents.com/cherry-electrical-mx1ac1nn.html?p=11075427) instead of Mouser. Any opposed to changing vendors?

I'm sure you already know this, but these are definitely Filco-compatible. I am typing on a set of these exact clears in a Filco right now.
-
Updated main post to reflect OnlineComponents since there seems to be no hard feelings against them here. I have an inquiry in to them to confirm that the 1800 pcs displayed stock on their site is actually true. Will update here when they respond. Otherwise this is looking like it will be a go :)
-
What is your plan for shipping and final costs per switch, Ryan Uber?
In other words, should I expect to pay for 60 switches shipped within continental U.S.? $0.69 per switch does not reflect shipping cost to you--unless you won't be including that.

Shipping cost from the distributor to me will be around $10. I'd pay that to have them shipped to me anyways so I won't split hairs on this one - I'll take care of shipping from the distributor to me, you guys just need to cover from me to you.

Should be like $5 per person in the US at least, right?
-
Yeah pretty close. I am thinking it will be about $6 average.

Shipping to CONUS = $5.80 small flat rate box as pointed out by Dianoda. Updated main post with this.

Bubble envelope should be good enough to ship to Canada.

Yep - no problem at all. Looks like that can be arranged for $9.50.

Everyone, I am thinking we might need to close orders now and get this order in. OnlineComponents has 1485 in stock now and we are at 985 switches. One purchase from OnlineComponents by someone else might wreck this GB.
Any opinions?
Edit: Nevermind -- I was looking at the wrong tab. Sorry!

Still what is the cut off going to be? Because it could happen that someone decides to go and buy all the switches...... :o
-
I am ready for cut-off now and getting that order in. Maybe we can cut it off at the end of today to allow anyone to change the number of switches etc. I'll start sending invoices today to speed this whole thing up if we close it early. I'll also update the main post with a note about this.
-
i'd like to order don't close it yet :)
-
We should probably add the order deadline to the thread title (edit: include the timezone, too. ie, orders close 6/14 at 11:59PM CST, etc.).
Also, once we have the final order quantity, contact onlinecomponents for a shipping quote - it looks like shipping is not flat-rate if the order total is >$399.99. Additionally, if the shipping quote is more than $19.90, we could just split the order in half to get the order totals to under $400 again (assuming the final order quantity is greater than 1000 switches and less than 1160 switches), in which case, each order would qualify for the $9.95 flat-rate shipping option they offer.

Thanks Dianoda - excellent points. You must have done a few group buys before yourself. Updated the title, and waiting on a reply from onlinecomponents with the current numbers. I figure it will at least be a pretty good estimate, and if we end up with more switches being added we can go from there.
-
Out of curiosity, would anyone have a problem moving the payment date up as well? The important thing is that we get the order completed soon. I guess it will be more apparent once the invoices are sent :) Hopefully most folks will move quickly.

In response to me asking for a shipping quote on 1005 pcs:
Shaunna Dearborn, Jun 14 10:44 am (PDT):
Hello,
We dont provide quotes, the pricing is as listed online. If the order total goes over $399.99, it doesn't qualify for flat rate shipping so the total for shipping is unknown.
Thank you,
Shaunna D.
Onlinecomponents.com
Not very helpful... Anyone know what the typical weight of a cherry switch module is for estimation? Otherwise maybe the order split is a good idea so that at least the cost is known.

If that's how it is then I'd just make sure each order is < $399.99

I'd like to sign up for 80 switches, please. Will fill out the form now.
Your 80 switch order will push the total number of switches over 1158, which will be a grand total of more than $800, which means that I would need to pay for 3x flat rate boxes. I was OK with handling 2 on my own but I can't do the 3rd without being compensated for distributor shipping to me. I mentioned this in the main thread. If you are ok with paying the distributor's cost of $6.95 extra for the extra switches, then I can definitely do this for you.
-
Bah, I didn't realize we were at the cut off. I was waiting until the last moment because I was considering a Ducky with Clears. How many switches can I get to still be within the acceptable number?
--
Let me know if someone doesn't pay and I can get some of their switches.

Paid :)

Bah, I didn't realize we were at the cut off. I was waiting until the last moment because I was considering a Ducky with Clears. How many switches can I get to still be within the acceptable number?
It is in the main thread. There are only 23 that will fit into the original 2x flat rate boxes.
Edit: Also, with the extra ship cost, it still would be only the equivalent of $0.77 per switch which isnt bad. Hard to find them that cheap for that quantity.

Paid!

You can still order 23 switches from this GB, according to the fist post (at the very bottom).

Yep. 23 left and then we are at capacity. You *can* order more but you will need to pay the additional $6.95 to get them from the distributor to me.

Edit: I apologize - there was confusion with you and Glissant submitting at the last minute - Glissant submitted 30 minutes before you did - so I need to give him priority. You should have no invoices from me.

Are you certain you invoiced missalaire, and not me? ;) Because I just paid an invoice from you for 23 switches.

Either I am going crazy or you and missalaire had the same avatar about 20 minutes ago. Either way, I invoiced you, not missalaire, since you submitted it first.
-
You might be going keyboard crazy; it happens ;).
Paid it up the minute I saw it.
-
Yep you are clear. Sorry for any confusion.
I have placed order #1 with onlinecomponents. They will ship out on Monday. I will complete the second order with them as soon as the rest of the invoiced orders are paid.
-
I ordered 100, but I'm going to give up my spot. Maybe missalaire and Photoelectric can agree to split them 25/75?
I just don't need them as much as some other people do. :)
Thanks for understanding. If for some reason you can't you can't sell them, Ryan Uber, let me know so I can pay the invoice.
-
I would be happy to get 75 switches, if no one is ahead in line and you are sure :) Thank you for offering!
-
I'd be interested in the 25 if you're sure, JD.
-
Sure thing! Thanks, JD. Very considerate of you.
missalaire, I still have your info, I'll be sending you an invoice for 25 shortly.
Photoelectric, I don't have your information anymore. Can you re-submit the form please?
Thanks!

I apologize for the delay, will have my payment in today.

Did you they give you an idea on how long it would take for you to get the switches?

Sorry - I haven't been posting updates as new responses. I was updating the main thread. I have box 1 of 2. The second box should arrive today. I already have all of the flat-rate shipping boxes. I think I'll be able to have all of them in the mail on their way to everyone by Monday. I'll do the counting and packaging this weekend.
-
You da best! :) Now I just need to find 10 more MX Clears (or MX Whites) so I can do a full keyboard.
-
Photoelectric, I actually ordered 110 for myself, but decided to do an 92-key instead. If you want, I'll gladly part with 10x of my leftovers and include them in your package if you gift me $7.
-
Yes, that'd be great, thank you! I'll be able to do this in a few hours when I get home from work (around 6-7 eastern).

That is some serious switch collection...

1,158.
Out of pure curiosity, what are people doing with their clear switches? Will you use the clear springs and stem? Will you take all of them apart to lube them?
Just curious because my first set of clears I just installed as-is and love them, but can't help but want to try ergo's.
-
I'm probably putting in 65g springs into mine (or 62g). I have a set of Krytox 103 and 201 oil/grease from Limmy and a couple bottles of Victorinox Multi-tool oil, so I'll be doing full lubing and stickering.

One thing that makes it somewhat easier is using the small flat rate USPS boxes and printing shipping labels straight from PayPal.

it took you just a couple weeks to get this done and yet i have been waiting for 180 clears from prof for over 4 months. hats off to you sir.

Dropped all packages off at the post office. Declared values on international packages as $30. The international postage rates didn't match up completely with the price I charged. The difference was ~$1 on each. If you are angry about that >_< please let me know via PM and I will make it right. Postage price is printed on the labels. I'll PM the tracking numbers on international orders this evening.
-
<-- not international, but wanted to say that we should probably be paying YOU. Because I don't think you included PayPal fees into the price, as when you requested money, you probably had to give up ~3% of each payment. That's already $1.55 difference for 75 switches, and $2.07 for 100 switch-orders that you lost.
ETA: my numbers were off--corrected!
-
Did you mark it as gift? If you did, then the min value without being taxed is $60 for us. If not then it is less than $20.

That's generous, Photoelectric. It's cool though. I bought 90 clears from TheKeyboardCompany like 2 months ago and spent $130. I am still saving money compared with that transaction. I realized the paypal fee only after I had invoiced everyone. I'll account for it in future GB's.

Marked all as gift.

Well, I for one will send you the fee I should have paid as a Gift Payment when I will get home! It's only fair :) (85 x 0.69) * 0.03 = $1.76 :) -- close enough!
-
My switches are shown as having been delivered! And I won't be home for another... many hours :( Now I need to wait for my 62g springs I traded 65g springs for and a steel universal plate to be made / shipped (really hope it's not too far away)! At least I can take a lot of time to properly lubricate everything :)

I'm not at home, but tracking says that my switches arrived! I can't wait to change my Poker to ergo clears tomorrow.

Just received mine. Thanks!

Got mine a week or so ago, thanks.
I find myself in need of more though now that I've acquired a Razer Orbweaver gaming keypad and am looking to get that modded with clears so if anyone's got any extras that they don't need and are willing to sell, I'm interested (looking for like 25 switches).
