In preparation for the GH60 I started modifying an old M0110 case I had. I plan on using a screw/washer/nut combo to hold the pcb/plate/board up against the top case.
Anyway, here is a pic :).
Shout out to Beast because his plate allowed me to plan this out.

Amazing!

Wow, that's actually really neat. Something a bit different (heh heh, think different) than the aluminum trays, and it seems like it'll look great with the right caps. Gotta throw somethin retro lookin on it and it's perfect.

Yah... Pretty bummed I didn't jump on the DSA set most recently :(.

Awesome! I wish I had a M0110 now. :D

Some may hit classifides, and if not, plenty of other retro lookin things. Really even some beigeish caps would work.

thats is a smart design/mod, once you find the right keycaps for it, it is gonna loook sweet.

I never even thought of this....but this might be the coolest thing I've seen today. I cannot WAIT to see how the build turns out. Please take a ton of pics or write a build log :D

Very cool idea, this has be reconsidering what I want to do with my M0110 that I have sitting around. I was planning on doing a spring swap and teensy/wire-matrix away the PCB, but this would be a very cool alternative. I might look into modifying the case so that the hole is square for a full geekhack 60 potential.
Again, very cool.

I think it is no coincidence that one of these boards just went up on ebay. I added it to watch list because I intend to try and buy it but may have just helped the seller.
-
i think you just did because now i want to do something like this. though, plenty of time to acquire M0110 before the GH60s come...
-
I actually semi-did it to spur some creativity from our community. There have been plenty of "hacks" in the past and it seems like we have gotten farther and farther away from it... and this site sucks so much money I was really in hard spot to find a case I'd be more than happy with. :-). I forgot to take pics of the "during" but I'll start doing it from now on.
-
now I regret not buying the GH60 :)

Put on switches to verify fitment. It works out that there are two plastic supports on the inside of the case that are roughly the perfect distance to shave off to have the keys fit :). See pics below.

Very nice.

I'm surprised that everything fit so well!
-
This is super awesome!

Impressed, thanks for sharing.

seriously once you find the right key caps this thing is going to look awesome. i personally dont think the black works..
one option is to paint the case if that's possible to match a given key cap set. though i think a lot of people would cringe at the thought of destroying the original look. (id do it.....)
-
I think just black on white/beige would look awesome. Even cream cheese set would look dope too imo.
-
This looks really tidy. Nice one :)

I was thinking you had to open it up since it was originally what 14.5 units wide or something. Looks really nice. I was thinking to do something similar with a M0110A if the GH10 goes on as it would be just about perfect.

Yah I did! You'll notice in my second post with pics I had to file the left and right sides to the retaining plastic reinforcements, which oddly is almost perfect for then correct unit keys. Ideally, it would be nice to get a full plate so I don't have to jimmy rig it :)... Right Beast? Seriously though, would it be expensive to do so?

Lovely Project! Seen on google images a few months ago.

great job there OP!

Just when I think that I ordered too many GH60 boards, you go and show me this. Now, I don't think I ordered enough!
Great idea and it looks like a bangin' project. So jelly.

This project inspired me to try and do the same thing so I purchased an M0110 and resumed waiting for GH60. However after that happened and 60% cases were looking to be in a shortage the market was then flooded with custom 60% aluminum cases (Hammer, FMJ, LZ-CE, MKC, TEX, and probably more)
Now I'm not so sure I have the time/skill to do this, but it is inspiring nonetheless.
