He probably had to cover some expensive shipping charges to get the board to where he is, and possible re anodizing costs as well.
375 kmac
60-100 switches, modding, assembly (hard to tell if stickered from that pic)
30-60? reanodizing
50-100 shipping to him
Everything almost at cost.... just that being INT makes it much more expensive

Dear god I want this keyboard! To bad it would cost me close to my entire vacation savings or every other keyboard I have.
Let me know if you are willing to trade anything. I've got a lot of switches, caps, and keyboards....including a 91 IBM SSK, Klaxon DS Set, and a CCnG on it's way.

if i'm threadcrapping, :-* , but kmac LE kit was 275 not 375
-
Plus I'm at a loss as to why people should reimburse him for his own shipping? If everyone did that the price of keyboards would rise indefinitely.

Perhaps the original sale, but Sherry sold some later that were closer to $400. (I bought one.) At least in my case, I ended up (stupidly) spending close to $900 on mine. Of course, that included some (unpleasant) assembly service, reanodized case, etc. Point is, it's hard to judge exactly what someone may have paid for their kmac. A mostly-stock one is much cheaper than a pimped out re-anodized one.
Just a little defense for the pricing. In the end though, it's worth what someone is willing to pay. Looks like a great board. In hindsight I wish something like this was available when I was looking to build... would have save a lot of money, hassle, and time.
-
aggiejy, what happened to your unpleasant assembly service?
BTW, that blue looks very sweet and unique. GLWS!
-
Well, TheProf did it. It took a VERY long time, lots of hassle, etc... but the keys all stick and everything, even after a lot of use. (Well, not a *whole* lot, because it's probably my least favorite board to type on.) I think overlubed based on a few switches I desoldered. (Didn't help I have light korean springs... but nothing that others haven't done lots of times.)
-

It is irrelevant what you paid for it. You can try to sell it for that but if that was the case, as someone pointed out, the prices would only go up.
You have to expect to take a loss..especially if you do mods that are not adding a lot of value...
If you don't take a loss, more power to you...
-
I don't disagree.
-
I got two noob questions, how much does the keyboard weigh?
and with that 62g spring, does it feel lighter or heavier than the original mx clears?
-
I got two noob questions, how much does the keyboard weigh?
and with that 62g spring, does it feel lighter or heavier than the original mx clears?
My best guess is around 5 pounds and the clears normally have 55 gram springs (so heavier).

Clears have 55g actuation force, these are 62g bottom out force. It's 2g heavier than a red/brown/blue spring, thus much lighter.
Also I've wanted that KMAC for a long time, but not the greatest price. glws

Hum, I feel the stock clears are a little too heavy for me, though I still use it at work everyday.
Would lubing makes any difference in terms of force required? or just smoother? I never tried lubed keys before.
However the KMAC plate allows easy switch opening to change the springs without desoldering? changing springs require you to re-apply grease?
-
GLWS ;D
-
Stock plate does NOT allow for easy mod, you'd have to desolder and the kmac le weighs around 3.5 lbs.

I don't see what the problem is, 62g gold is pretty light compared to clears. Other questions have been answered

I agree. I've seen a lot of fully assembled KMACs sell for $400-450. Re-anodising doesn't cost $150-200.

Doesn't look like it here, Mr. Clack-Trade-In-Non-Classified-Threads.
And his problem is you overpricing a keyboard that isn't selling for $400 and bumping the thread every two hours, instead of a sane period of time between bumps.

$500 FOR A KEYBOARD AND IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY KEYS ON IT? YOU SHOULD BUY MY $750 KEYBOARD. THAT ONE'S GOT ALL ITS KEYS ON IT!

Concerning the backlash you've received I think it would be wise to consider the feedback. That being said, let's keep our criticisms constructive.

right, so that's why you're still selling it right?
you're learning from the school of boost!
"people" offered you 550. you lowered the price and still haven't sold it.
seriously, you are only lying to yourself.
-
You bought it for $600? I think you got a really bad deal, dude.
-
I believe some of the confusion (mine at least) comes from your recent post in the Korean Keyboard media thread where you said you were looking to buy a Korean custom keyboard with ergo-Clears. While still selling this one. This one is really beautiful, and I don't know why you'd want to get rid of it as you still are clearly looking for the same thing--just what, different color or layout?
-
lol these haters.
-
Why are these boards so expensive? Is it like a phantom that has LEDs? Also, what do you mean by 'stickerd'? What is stickering?
-
seems like english is your second language.. so i'll excuse you for not knowing the definition of a "hater"
people are just saving you from wasting your time and embarrassing yourself.
-

http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=46665.0
There is an explanation of what stickering means.
It is an expensive board because it is totally customized.
-
lol these haters.
The last defense of a defenseless point, ad hominems.
The point, and this is from someone who owns the same keyboard, is that your price is obscenely too high. I, and clearly no potential buyer, care that you stupidly spent $600 to take a kit and turn it into a keyboard with a questionably better color. You don't get to add on the costs you incur to add wheels/other performance parts to a car, why do you think you get to with a keyboard, especially at no depreciated rate?
-
You don't get to add on the costs you incur to add wheels/other performance parts to a car ...
???
-
You don't get to add on the costs you incur to add wheels/other performance parts to a car ...

what he's saying is.
when you sell a car, you don't add on to the price you paid to make it better. nobody told you to do that.
