I just got my first mechanical keyboard and I love it, for the most part. I have MX Blue switches and I like how loud they are, but the space bar is just too loud, much louder than the rest of my keys. It really takes away from my typing experience. I type a word with these elegant sounding keys, and then when I hit the space bar, it's just a loud, disruptive CLUNK. I couldn't really find any sites with a good selection to choose from. I'm looking for a pack of just a few of them, as they will only be for my space bar, and some kind that are designed to reduce noise as much as possible. Some links or quick tips would be appreciated.

You could try the WASD sampler kit!

Hi,
this is pretty weird,
either you have a faulty switch or your stabilizer is messing around,
maybe try to remove your space bar and lube your stabilizer.
O-rings will not lower the clicking sound of the switch, it will just dampen the bottoming clack.
Anyway if you want to try O-rings, I have many, I can ship you some if you give me your address.
good luck and welcome! :)

If you are using oem profile caps, you could try ghetto rings.. they offer extreme sound dampening.

Oh, I should have added that in. I do mean the sound of it bottoming out is too loud.

I use these exact o-ring.
They are very nice and cost less than 2$ for a bag of 100!

They are 70A, so they are quite firm, but still make a nice noise reduction without changing the feeling too much. At the price, it's worth a try!

Space bars are generally louder when bottoming out - this is normal (across all of my keyboards, anyway).
Both of my boards with MX blues have an MX green for the space bar - don't know if that would make a difference, but probably not.
The WASD Sampler Kit is highly recommended :)

I wrote a review on o-rings and soft-landing pads. If you're interested, check it out (http://wiki.geekhack.org/index.php?title=User_talk:CPTBadAss#O-Rings_and_Soft_Landing_Pads) :D

Yeah, I also think it is kind of normal that the spacebar is the loudest of them all. At least that is the case with Costar stabilizers. O-rings help only a little bit, with Costar stabilizers the space bar will still be pretty loud, and it wont be as effective there as it is on other keys. I am using the 40A-L (0.2mm Reduction) Red O-rings from WASD on browns and I am pretty satisfied with them.

With my blues I keep an o-ring on the space bar, but leave the rest of the keys alone. I find the o-ring on the space bar gives it a nice landing and deadens the sounds, but makes the rest of the keys feel too mushy. This holds true with every type of o-ring availble from WASD, imo.

I sort of enjoy blues with EK's soft-landing pads (http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access#slpads). They have softer landing than o-rings.

Alright, thanks for all the feedback guys. :)
