We could have it in a central location (Chicago?), and invite retailers to sponsor it and have giveaways and such. For sure! I think everyone that wants to bring their collection for showing off or for selling / trading is more than welcome to and there will be plenty of table space to lay out items.
I like the idea of tagging....or having some sort of organization / security. I know at the last meetup, even though I trusted the GHers, I felt uneasy walking away from some of some of my $100 pieces of plastic / metal in a public place.

I think Tym said we had to charge $5 to keep the public out. Do you really think anybody from the "public" will want to wander into this group of mutants? I think the public will most likely stay away on their own. Which is good, actually, 'cuz do you really want to try to explain to some stranger that you traveled 2,000 miles to discuss computer keyboards, and to maybe trade some tiny 1/2 inch plastic skulls made by some guy in San Diego? The public came when we had the last Chicago meet. There was a few people who came in to look at things. It was pretty funny :D. And I think it's so cute that people are so shy about their hobby.

I can bring my iron, solder, and wire cutter/stripper but you may not want me to work on your filco. If there is a pin in the connector I can bring my pin remover tool. I will be bringing my PC so you can test the repair there as well.

I'm interested in wood but I have limited experience and access to tools. So I probably wouldn't know what to ask or what to expect you to talk about. I'd be happy to hear you speak about it though and show off examples and whatnot. I've been thinking about getting one of your wrist rests so hearing you talk about it could help with that. :) Also if you have examples? Aside from doing a live demonstration and explaining techniques having the ability to present ideas with a whiteboard and some markers could really give people some idea of the work that goes into making some homebrew caps. It would be good for other people too during show & tell :p Maybe a game of pictionary then? xD
So ok, I don't have anything prepared and but I will have a 3D printed ABS and titanium piece. I can show those off and do a Q&A session about anything more on the mechanical side: materials, machining, 3D printing, etc. For those who don't know, I've been learning how to operate my FDM 3D printer at work. And I need to deal with materials and machining/processing methods daily so I can talk shop off the top of my head.
If you guys wanna prepare some questions and do a Q&A that could work. Or I could just be available all day to talk about whatever. I'm not sure what the interest is but it seems like there's a bit of it.

In my experience, many universities have "guest" wifi networks with throttled bandwidth. Hopefully we can use that and hopefully it'll be sufficient for streaming. If not, we don't need to bombard i3oiler's iPad connection and use all his bandwidth. I guess we'll have to think on our feet once we arrive in order to get it worked out.

My wife is bringing her 7d and I can bring my Lens baby with a macro kit as well if anyone wants close ups of caps etc.

Sponsorship for the luncheon has fallen though. :-[ So we're going to have to fall back to plan B, which is to pay our own way.

photekq, i was incredibly impressed with the hoffmeister's prototype brass cap made from your design. very cool.Well thank you. I think hoffmans design turned out nicer than any of the others I've had done. I believe it cost me £30 or £35. I will agree that my machinist is very good at what he does. He's incredibly helpful and is always available to do work for me, and the work he does is brilliant and very well priced.
the_beast and i were talking later about indexing all the machines we have access to in the states in terms of how operators deal with time, quoting, charges, quantity, etc. and just raw talent (well, we were talking about a couple specific ones, but we ended up kind of wandering around all of the machines we have access to..) not sure how much you paid to mill that piece, but your machinist is clearly pretty talented. and your design is solid (literally, lol, that thing weighs a ton hah)

Can I download the stream video anywhere? I'd love to watch it when I get bored some day, but I thought twitch takes down video after a day.... not sure thoUgh that doesn't sound too promising for my plans to watch Monday... Bummer.

I think Binge said something about it staying there for three days by default, and longer if he tells it to save it for longer. (?)

I would suggest this http://www.twitchtools.com/video-download.php . I've only used it once, but it worked just fine when I did. The video will be segmented, but that is probably for the best since it's an almost four hour long stream ^^.

I love that not only is the business card an awesome idea, but it's expandable and the three switches that are built in have diodes for LEDs!
