I have a G500 mouse which I do like and don't mind, but my fingertip grip fatigues my hands a lot faster these days. I think a mouse with a high base to allow me rest my palm while maintaining a fingertip grip would be ideal (i.e. I don't like the true palm grip feeling with my hand completely flush against the mouse).
Functionality around the realm of the G500 would be preferred.

none of the mice seem to offer a high enough profile to allow me to rest my palm.
Any suggestions?

The Mionix Naos would be great if you don't have a massive hand. I use a grip that varies between a palm grip and fingertip grip and it's the perfect shape for me, if just a hair small. The buttons can actuate so high up on the mouse, that you could even use it as a claw grip mouse. If you look at a picture of the mouse, mine will let me click the right and left click buttons all the way up at the DPI adjust arrows.

the g500 should be fine for that if you rest your wrist and do not move your whole arm. the g500 causes your wrist to rest on the hard bone. not on the nerve which is good.

Oh, I forgot to mention I do have a Belkin wrist wrest/mousepad. Removing it does give a better palm/fingertip grip. But if I could find some mouse which lets me use the wristpad and keep a semi-palm grip, I think that would be better.

No, my palm floats while I fingertip grip the mouse (not claw it) with my wrist resting on the maybe 3/4" gel wrist rest. This current setup is starting to fatigue my palms. If the wrist rest pad is the problem, I could get a real mouse pad and rest my wrist directly on a non-gel rest.

I rest my wrist straight on the mouse pad, I had one of those mouse rests but then I got carpal tunnel so I'm not allowed to use them anymore.

I have personally tried all kinds of mouse wrist rests. they all cause pain in the long run. you should never press on the center of your wrist. it is best to rest the hard bone on the outside of your wrist on a thick mousepad. which the g500 should cause you to naturally do. you also should not move your whole arm or you are risking injury. in martial arts they press on the inside of your wrist to make you lose your grip. so not something you want to press on. oh, you will get carpal tunnel quick if you put weight on a mouse wrist rest. keyboard is a different story. that rest should be hard like rubber or wood. all that gel/memory foam stuff leads to injury. just because they make it for that purpose does not mean it is a good idea. I really think you could keep the g500 if you do what I say. try it at least. the g500 may not be the highest performance mouse but it is one of the most ergonomic for righties.

I strongly disagree with that, yet I won't go into details—you can replace almost every sentence with its negation, and that would be my opinion.

The Wow Pen Joy mouse allows most of the weight to rest on the bottom outside palm heel of the hand and the hand drapes around the mouse with very little actual pressure anywhere.
True, you are pushing it around with the inside of the palm and interior face of the thumb, but only enough pressure to overcome friction.
These are often considered too slow to be good gaming mice, but for general use, I love them.
PS - If you have a soldering iron you can easily upgrade them to lighter switches.

I really appreciate the advice, guys and gals. I think I might be looking rather for a good replacement mousepad (or mat?). As nice as the gel pad feels it does place considerable weight on my wrist.
However, I still should test out the mice mentioned in this thread, maybe pop up to Fry's and see what's there (pretty sure Razer has their stuff).

AFAIK it's always better to move whole arm/forearm instead of bending ones wrist. I have had great experience with Allsop Wrist Assist. It's a small rest with sliders, so it can move around (the wrist doesn't bend) and keeps the wrist straight (not vertically bent). It probably wouldn't be the best idea to use it as a wrist rest, but palm rest with a small mouse (fingertip-grip)? No problem!

Yesterday I got an Artisan Hien Hard M mousepad... I think replacing the Belkin with this mousepad is a huge upgrade. The quality is superb even though I got it used for half price (Amazon Warehouse special!).
I was afraid the Hard Hien would be too much (hence it being returned by its previous owner) but it's awesome. Glad I didn't spring for 3 other Artisans at the same time haha!
