Who's James Gandolfini and what makes his death more sad than that of others out there?

no one is comparing how sad a given person's death is. but at 51 it was a big loss in a time where talent in the entertainment industry seems to be reducing with every generation. He was talented.

He sort of played the same guy in every show and movie he was in, but he did it so well. When tony soprano was pissed off, we all were pissed off.

I was actually being serious.  I have no clue who the dude is.

Saying James Gandalfini died to me would be like me coming up to you and saying it's really sad that Howard Becker, Ann Swidler, or Jeffrey Alexander died today.  Odds are those names mean nothing to you, but they're influential in sociology.  I was sincerely asking, who was he and why is it so sad that he died compared to all the other people who died recently?

I suppose it does come off as sarcastic, but I didn't mean it that way.  Well, maybe I meant it a little sarcastically, but I was sincerely asking why it matters that he died.

it was impressive how he could play a character so different from his own personality.

not confirmed to be the cause but like 99% sure it did. I should take it as (yet another) wake up call, im not much skinnier than he was, don't have the tony soprano breathing issues yet though.

Me, back in June 2010

queue the music!

it was impressive how he could play a character so different from his own personality.
