I  cut my index finger today too on a router bit. Not enough for stitches but it did require some super glue to stop the bleeding so I could get back to work

My father's thumb was fed to a dado blade.  2 of my knuckles to a bandsaw.  We won't even talk about the knives and street rash.

NSFL? This is PG-13 stuff.. Despite that it does look painful as hell.

I thought I was the only one who used super glue to close up bad cuts.. It works really well.

It wasn't even a bad cut, I just wanted it to stop bleeding so I could keep working

Superglue was designed for the military to seal wounds.

I like the idea of tagging or whatever Not Safe For Life.

It funnier that way and will get way more views.

And maybe someone will go out and get me a banana split!

That's totally something I would do.  Which is why I always try to be conscious of where power tools are with respect to me and such.  I'm less careful with saws and blades and such, so I often get cut when I make stuff :)

Although with the thread subject, you are not likely to see pictures of fluffy bunnies (unless they have been eviscerated with aforementioned power toolz).

How did you get the video of my accident?

Weird Al gave it to me...
I had a similar mishap myself about 15 years ago, but with a meat slicer. My thumb went into it tip first, all the way to the end of the nailbed, and into the bone. Now that hurt. My nail still has a line in it where the cut was to this day.

Okay. Time for a tailgate meeting. How did it happen? How could it have been prevented? Were you at work?

Sorry about the accident. I'm assuming, of course, that you didn't do it on purpose.

That Weird Al...I gotta get a retraining order on him.

Finger tips are very sensitive. Fingers have a lot of nerves. Thats' why Japanese tortured using bamboo shoots under the fingernail. Brutal.

Getting the shots in my finger, not fun...I was making a lot of noise in the ER, doctor was a little surprised, everybody knew I was not happy with the shots.

Ouch! I split the tip of my ring finger in half on a mower blade a couple years back... Accidents happen unfortunately.

Could have been worse, glad it was a healable injury!

Okay. Time for a tailgate meeting. How did it happen? How could it have been prevented? Were you at work?

Sorry about the accident. I'm assuming, of course, that you didn't do it on purpose.

I was undercutting 1/2" from the bottom of the 2nd of 4 prefinished wood doors on sawhorses with a circular saw. I carried all 4 down a flight of stairs (36"x84"x1 3/4 solid commercial doors, about 95-105 pounds), loaded, drove to office, off loaded, in the sun at 3:00, made line and cut 2/3 of the way when I noticed the saw had creeped away from clamped guide. At that point I GRABBED EDGE OF DOOR TO BRACE AND STEER SAW, FINGERS WENT UNDER DOOR. You have pics of what happened.

I have no idea why I did that. Of course I've never had a saw creep while running slowly on a guide. I had the 3 5/8" side of the framers saw on the door, so I wasn't trying to balance it. First use on a Diablo carbide blade for ferrous metal, so I didn't even need to scribe the maple veneer. Maybe a Skilsaw issue. It's not mine but is not beat... dunno.

I've done this many times before. but stress, hunger, tired, working fast, blazing sun, end of day, poor mood, doors were too tall by error, just had issue/discussion/drama with personnel on details/time/cost, etc. One thing I did not do, to save a moment, is check/adjust the blade depth...normally to cut 1 3/4" the blade would stick out about 2" max. It may have been sticking out  more than that, not by much. That may have contributed 1) because the blade was more exposed that needed to be and 2) had I done that I would have been more aware of the blade.

Sheer mental blank out and put myself into the blade. THAT scares me

Not working tomorrow which causes issues/scheduling/etc.

I have some thinking to do.

Another example of a circular saw injury not caused by a guard locked up.

Whenever my Father-in-law sees me he asks "Well, do you still have all your fingers?". I've been fortunate enough to have never had a serious power saw injury.  I often have to remind myself to pay attention because it's easy to drift into a trance doing repetitious tasks. I have had several deep cuts from knives and chisels however. As for the shots in the finger; If it's anything like getting it in the end of the toe, it has to be among the most painful experiences ever.

With the kerf cut out of your flesh, I imagine it will take longer to heal than a slice.

It's stitched so I don't know if it will make any difference as far as the healing, it's not like it fills in. It's right in crease which is ok I guess. I'll be in acceptance of this in a few days...after the weekend. This could have been vary bad. I really have to look and consider the cause and effect, there were some negatives happening and I rose up to take it all on, I guess I didn't handle it very well and let it get to me. Got some thinking to do. I'm not too happy, this is a wake up call for how I conduct myself relative to situations at hand.

The shots hurt. A lot. I let it out baby, didn't hold back much. It turned heads.

Everyboady...be careful! This sucks!

Just glad you're still here to talk about it.

I just can't stress enough to be careful. This was 100% avoidable and could have been catastrophic, if not a hell of a lot worse. We all need a wake up call.
