Title: SteelSeries 7G Successor?
Post by: Quardah on Fri, 28 June 2013, 07:12:58
Hey people,

I was just wondering something, does anybody know when SteelSeries is going to release some new stuff?

Because their 7G keyboard is 5 and an half years old now, i don't know if it's a good moment to buy or if i should wait for some new items to be released.

Should we expect some new keyboards from them soon?

Many Thanks,
J-P.

Search for SteelSeries Alpha. I wonder if it was cancelled or what.

Thanks for the Heads Up. The Alpha doesn't seem very interesting with the little i can find about it on the internet.

Still, any infos about other products like new headsets or mices? Because their sites lack of new content right now... (Kinda getting out of topic but i would be glad to have some more info).

Yes i have seen the Apex but i don't really have a good feeling about it. It doesn't look mechanical and it doesn't seem any tough. If i buy a keyboard, i want it to be very sturdy therefor i can sell it back mint condition after a year or two of use. This one just looks cheap it's going to wear off too soon.

That's a pretty sad drop i guess.

Steelseries 6gv2 is technically their new mechanical keyboard
because they refreshed it with the Cherry MX Reds ( originally mx blacks like 7g) quite recently..
I'm pretty sure they have no plans of releasing a new mechanical keyboard in the near future because 6gv2 is selling so well...

Ugly, moves the "\" to strange places, usually results in a 1x backspace like on the 7G and a bunch of boards.  Hate them.

I remember they asked us to do a survey awhile ago... never heard anything since.

Apex is rubber dome, not mechanical.

If I did know anything about any upcoming products, unfortunately, I couldn't tell you. I can tell you that they haven't completely forgotten about mechanical. But past that, I honestly know nothing about any upcoming products in that vein.

Oh you're so right about the 1x backspace key that's such a dealbreaker i can't believe they are still doing this!

Who cares. Caps Lock ~ Backspace. And 6Gv2 doesn't even have small Backspace, but small right Shift instead... that's much worse. But anyway, I hate big-ass Enter because of common issues with stabilizers.

Yeah the small right shift basically stopped me from recommending and buying this keyboard.
