Title: Suggestions for my next keyboard...
Post by: knotra on Fri, 28 June 2013, 23:51:53
Hey fellow geekhackers,

I feel like it's time for me to get my next keyboard, I want something that is a bit exotic, or at least something that isn't what I already have.

I currently have:
Razer Blackwidow Ultimate
Das Model S Ultimate Tactile Soft
Das Model S Professional Tactile Click
Corsair Vengeance K90
Steelseries 6gv2 Black Switch
Filco Ninja Majestouch-2 Soft Linear Action
Ducky DK9087 Shine II w/ Browns
Ducky DK9008 Shine II w/ Blues
WASD Keyboard v1 w/ Browns
Leopold FC200R Tacticle Touch
White Filco Majestouch-2 TKL Click Action
Ducky DK9008G2 PRO Dark Grey Version PBT w/ Clears
Realforce 87U Tenkeyless 45g White/Grey

I have been looking at ergoclear boards and ergodox boards and I really want one but I don't know how to mod/build it? Is there anyone that could build it for me if I paid them?

Thanks in advance!

Conspicuously absent from your list is a vintage Model M. I recommend you get a nice clean 1390131 from 1986 or 1987. There are a few good ones on eBay right now. I really think every keyboard enthusiast should have one.

You have too many keyboards. Get rid of all of them except one and be happy with it.

I say keep your favorite 3~4 boards with each different switches and sell the rest. Then invest that into a ergo clear board of your choice.

I agree with calavera.

If you want an ergo clear board, you could easily sell off a number of your less-liked boards and buy e.g. a custom of some sort with ergo clears at minimal if any end cost.

Though once you have one super-nice keyboard, you will want to replace your other boards with more of them  ;)

I can solder the parts together for you if you want. It's actually pretty easy to do.

Nope, there are no pre-made ergo clears. Best way is to check the classifieds here often.

Well, there was assembly service offered for the Ergo Dox, but the person doing it is also the person doing the cluster-f@#% Phantom assembly GB right now.  Every now and then one pops up in the classifieds though or you could buy one and pay someone to assemble it for you.
