Wow. That looks like it went through something traumatic!

Time to play guess the movie! Uh... The Matrix?

I've seen that switch type before yes, but the name completely escapes me now.

Yeah the switch looks so familiar at first I thought it was a BS board that had been modified, but the spring doesn't buckle when pressed.

I would be genuinely impressed if someone knew what movie this was from.

No, it's not buckling spring. It's a linear switch with a spring over the post - though I don't remember if the spring is stock or special effects. I wanted to say it was a Honeywell Hall Effect, but the shape is inversed. (Square post sticking up, rather than a square hole in the post.)
Here's what a Honeywell looks like. (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=18048.0)

And it's not The Matrix? Huh. Now my curiosity is piqued.

Ah right. Matrix was an old Apple PowerBook keyboard.

I think that it could be some kind of foam-and-foil key switch, or similar hybrid design. The square keycap mount reminds me of Mitsumi switches.

Couldn't tell you what board - but I do want to know what movie that is from.

Looks like a keytronic to me. You can see some of the springs have been removed. It's got the same individual switches, and the stems looks limilar enough to me.

Looks like something that belongs in the the universe of the Aliens movies. I don't recall anyone using a keyboard like that though.

OK OK, it's from a movie called Hardware. Watch the first 40mins they are amazing, the rest not so much. It's on Netflix if you wanna check it out.

It's not the Westinghouse - there's cutouts on the edges of the Westinghouse. There are none on the SFX keyboard.

It's also not a Trash-80 Model 12 - those are inverse Cherry-style. (Cross cutouts.) It's not a Trash-80 Model III either as we found here (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=21206.0). I thought it was an Osborne/1 keyboard but unfortunately it is not (http://regmedia.co.uk/2011/04/05/osborne_keyboard_large.jpg).

I may have to watch that movie sometime.

It may be something from some control console that's relatively unknown outside of some industrial use. I would guess a European company based on where it was filmed, maybe from a shutdown factory or something.
