I'm buying my second topre keyboard today and need some last minute advice. This one is for work so it can't be overly loud, so if the hipro is louder than the 55g then I guess it would likely be out. I love my 55g, and I'm only considering the 87u silent for noise factor, and curiosity about the 45g variable weighting. This may sound strange, but I like the sound of topre boards, will the silent still have good sound?
does anyone have both of these keyboards that can weigh in on the situation?

I don't have a hipro or a 87u 55g.
I can comment on the fc660c 45g and RF87u silent variable and 87u 45g.
The silent variable RF87u sounds nothing like the 45g 87u nor the fc660. I find the latter a little loud for my office while the 87u silent is perfect albeit the thockness is not as pronounced.
I like the variable silent RF87u but I must admit I miss the thockness associated with topre. YouTube has some comparisons you can listen to.
I will make just one more comment. Rubber domes used by colleagues sound louder than RF87u silent in my office.

Which of the three do you like the best?
Between the 87u and 87u silent, which would you buy again?
BTW, thanks

If I was to go for low noise 2nd RF 87u keyboard, if I have a lot of typing to do then I can't justify anything other than the 87u silent. The variable will help my pinky's and the keys will be lovely, mushy and silent.
If it was purely for thockness, I think the 87u 45g has plenty of thock. If you are in love with the 55g you may find the keys too light, you will require some adjusting, especially the 30g keys on the silent. The 45g uniform may be a good compromise.
Bearing in mind I have headphones on half of the time I would still opt for the 87u silent because I don't think I can go above 45g and to me the thockness isn't as important as comfort. My 660c has a heck of a thock, I love it even more than a RF 87u 45g uniform although it is not as awesome. I have to say IMO the RF87u silent is a delight to use for 8-12hrs. Day in, day out.

Just purchased the silent, thanks!

Great. Let us know how it goes. I know it can be a little daunting waiting on something you haven't tried, yet giddy at the same time waiting.
All the best.

This helped me with my decision to pick up an 87u silent for work. Thanks!
