You did, but I flew in on a great sale in the other IBM I preferred more ( the tenkey brother of the one you bought) :) . I just want to try the springs, but I will probably go back to the Cherry MX blues on a filco I want to buy. It would take A LOT for me to change from blues, but let's see my Model M should be here in a few hours.

Yeah like for the same exact keyboard, you see clicky selling it for $30-$40 more, just his are clean. I guess people are too lazy to clean the boards...

Duck, I grew up using IBM, Apple II, IIe, and Commodores. So, although it's been a while, I pretty much knew what to expect. Blues are my preferred Cherry although they are a little light for me. That's why I wanted a model M. I think my next board will be one with MX greens. I have a hard time not bottoming out hard on anything other than BS.

Ah I see where you are coming from indeed. You will appreciate it plenty. Me, even though I do bottom out some times but the blues are so soft and easy on my fingers. I hope I can use the model M when I feel like a change, but I know it won't be my full time more than likely. But you never know.

There is no way to verify this though. It's not hard to believe a noob has blasted the price up. It's a really fresh keyboard, but used Model M's are just as clicky and tactile.

I'd hate to think that someone may be buying this just to keep it NIB in a cabinet as as some kind of investment, but I can't think of any other logical reason for the price going so high.
To whomever buys this: it's a great keyboard, and should be used and enjoyed!

Odd, the labels on the box does not match the label on the keyboard.
The ad says, "The serial number on the box's label matches the label on the bottom of the keyboard."
Well, that appears to be true. But look at picture #6 - it shows different model numbers.
The label on the back of the keyboard says its a 1392934 serial number 5020086 built 13SEP90.
The label on the end-flap of the box is for a 1396050 serial number 5020086 built 13SEP90.
Different model numbers with serial numbers and dates are the same? I thought perhaps the model numbers might be FRU equivelents. But the 1396050 is FRU for 1393290 according to this:

So is this a coincidence? An error? Is that why this unit was left in the box? Were identical serial numbers assigned to different models?

No, it is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it today.
That is the definition of an open marketplace. Just because someone else bought something similar for more or less in the past is irrelevant.
If you feel that the price will go down, then you should wait. If you feel that it will go up, then you should buy now.
If you don't know, then you are like almost everybody else. Discerning the difference between temporary spikes and long-term trends is often hard.
My observation - prices on almost everything are more likely to go up than down.

Yes, if you are really keen to add an SSK to your collection, you can do it fast, or you can do it cheap. Start tracking prices and dates to determine what the true market price is. That is why I was able to recently post a list of SSK prices and dates, and another list of industrial prices and dates; I had been tracking those sales to discern market price and trends. So when I saw a black M13 for less than $50, and a SSK under $100, I was able to determine that was somewhat below the market price.
Two phenomenon I've noticed:
1) Sellers are sitting on the sideline, and when one sells for a high price, they dump theirs into the market and the price goes down.
2) In the flip side to #1, when one item goes for a very low price, lots of buyers say to themselves, "Wow, I wish I had bid on that." and they set their bid-snipers to maximum, driving the price up.
A marketing graduate student could do an interesting paper on this phenomenon. Of course, he/she would be failed, because graduate papers are not supposed to be interesting.
