Title: Unknown keyboard
Post by: ajcfernandes on Tue, 09 July 2013, 14:21:54
Hi, a friend of mine found this old keyboard, it looks mechanical (Buckling Spring) but we are not sure what kind of keyboard or brand is this, anyone recognise it?

If the white bit goes at the bottom, it's a knockoff buckling spring of some flavor. That certainly looks like a hammer.

Yes the white piece goes at the bottom, and the sound is similar to buckling

We have seen a couple of variations of "Mechanical Touch" on this forum before. It is indeed a buckling spring mechanism and not something else. What I have heard about them is that they are supposed to feel awful compared to IBM and Alps (rare) buckling spring designs. The switches are supposedly sometimes somewhat inconsistent to oneanother.

I think it's called a "Ya Sheng" or possibly "Can Tech".

They tried to make a buckling spring board, but didn't realize it needed things like a metal backplate to work well.

I think so too. I swear that I saw another of these somewhere in the interwebs...

Actually, the IBM M2 doesn't have a metal backplate, yet it works well.
