I'm interested in getting the CM QFR with Cherry MX Brown switches and I've read that the QFR was a Costar board. A while ago, CM updated the QFR and took off the front branding , which I appreciate. Is the QFR still a Costar board? Also, does anyone know if newegg is selling the updated one yet? Their pictures still show the older model so I'm a tad hesitant.
Thanks!

Current Keyboard:
Older version QFR w/ MX Blue

You're confusing your models. QuickFire Pro is not the same thing as a QuickFire Rapid. The QFR is a TKL form factor, which still uses costar as the OEM, while the Pro is a full size board with a different OEM.

Would these fit on the QFR?

Also, are there any other Costar boards in TKL form factor around this price range? Some people seem to complain about QC for the QFR's, specifically on a few keys.

Ducky and QFR keycaps are interchangeable.
Also consider KeyCool.

Keep an eye on http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=38930.0
trrc always has QFRs for sale that are lightly used for awesome prices. I just got a used QFR Stealth from him and it's practically NIB condition.
EDIT: And yes, the QFRs are still Costar boards.

At one point not long ago, QFR casing was overtightened at the factory, which caused some keys to lose contact or some such, and loosening the screw that holds that top and bottom of the case usually helped. That was confirmed by CM reps. They said it should be fixed for new batches. QFR is your best bet in that price bracket--if you're talking $60-90. Otherwise you could go up a bit and get a non-backlit Ducky (supposedly they produce their own boards, but top notch quality). I've seen QFRs go for ~$60-65 during sale periods, but you won't find a Ducky for that little, unfortunately.

@ Rowdy
Just looked at keycaps direct and saw sets of blank black pbt caps so I'll probably try to pick up those.
@ dadgh
I'll be sure to stay on the lookout, although at the moment he only has them in MX Blue.
@ Photoelectric
I wonder if resellers have those new QFR sets yet, would certainly ease my worries a bit! I looked into the Ducky overclock.net editions from Tank Guys but all of the MX Brown sets seem to be sold out. On another note, although it's not a Costar board I've seen some good feedback on Leopold keyboards and I know that elitekeyboards is selling the Leopold FC200R for $99. Anyone have experience with this keyboard/brand?

I wrote a review on my Leopold FC700R (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=41048.0) if you wanted my thoughts on a Leopold board.

@CPTBadAss
Are there any U.S. retailers that carry Leopold boards besides elitekeyboards?

@WhiteFireDragon
My bad, wrote the wrong thing on the title. Adjusted title to match discussion.

If you decide to go w/ the Ducky PBT caps, be aware that the spacebar will likely be warped. =( May or may not bother you, depending on your OCD level. =)

But can usually be straightened by placing it on a flat surface and pointing a hair dryer at it for a few seconds.

Dang, I guess I'll try to look at some reviews for the 200R then.

That would get pretty annoying, but if it is easily fixable then not so much of an issue.

Anyone know if the keycapsdirect dsa pbt blank caps would fit on the QFR?

They should, yes. QFR has a very standard layout (assuming ANSI, not ISO).
