I found some F XTs going for cheap:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/310704084206?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

seller has others in stock as well. Seller is impatient and wants to sell fast, so you gotta bid by today.

why bother to buy AT? Buy XT, then buy your adapter from Hagstrom (works good) or make your own from Soarer's converter (I will try doing that someday)

why bother to buy AT?

Because the AT is usable as-is and can be modded to a pretty decent layout.

XT layout is stupid and infuriating and cannot be reasonably modded.

if the price difference were 10 or 20, I'd agree.

not for more than 100 in price difference!

And hey, I remember you as the guy who sold a whole army of Model Fs for $100. You made me so unhappy  :'( :'( :'(. I'm looking for a Model F 122-key, but these guys are hard to find and ultra expensive.

actually I agree with fohat.digs that the XT has a stupid layout. But it definitely looks cooler than the AT. I wonder if anybody uses the Model F for gaming. It would be very interesting to hear their feedback.

It sucked for Minecraft since you can't shift walk (which is important so you don't fall off things)

Not sure about other games

Brand new Model M 84-key.  Guy wants $200 for it.  That seems really high to me.

Yeah, I saw that around the 1st of July as I am always checking the Dallas/Ft. Worth Craigslist.  It would come up when I typed in a search for a Model M.  I made a post about it in the keyboard section.  I'll bet somebody bought the Model M too.  They can thank me later.

I know I posted before DuckNorris about it, but I'm not sure where you got the lead.  But anyway, you're welcome, and I'm glad you like the board.  That Model M for $45 looked to be a good deal too.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, so I will stop.

You made me so unhappy. I'm looking for a Model F 122-key, but these guys are hard to find and ultra expensive.

I am afraid that you have me confused with someone else.

Although that lot of 15 immaculate F-122s was mostly not available to "the public" there was one that languished on auction here for a week or so and finally sold to the single bidder a couple of weeks ago. I made multiple posts advising (almost begging) Geekhackers to nab that pristine beauty, but obviously people ignored me.

I have been surveying the F-122 situation for about 3 years, and it has been my experience that they turn up every few months in various ugly-to-excellent states, sometimes 2 or 3 at a time. Altogether, I have bought about 6-7 at between $35-$85 and built about 4 good working specimens out of the lot. When they turn up, they are not always expensive, but they are rare.

Ebay items come and go. When I got the hots for an F AT, it was at the beginning of several dry months. It took me about 4 months (and buying 3) before I got a really good one. Today there is almost always one on sale.

If you want a Model F 122-key, prepare to be patient. You will find one, but it might well take months.

Considering what has been going on lately, I would call this a "find" at below going market rate.

Supply lurks and demand obviously goes through wild mood swings.

3 years ago, when I really wanted one, the "going rate" was about $80. None were for sale for weeks on end. When a few trickled into the market, myself and about 2 other lustful types bid them up way high ($120-$150) even though some of them were pretty grubby.

After about half a dozen had sold, when each of us 3 had probably bought at least a couple of ATs each and finally succeeded in landing a good one, the bidding war was over and the price dropped back down to where it had been before.

There might have been a spike that recently subsided. In 2013, the one listed above looks like a good buy.

Hey Fohat

just realized that you posted in reply.

Sorry if I mixed you up.

I didn't bid on that one because, shipping included, it was too much. It'd have cost at least $170 shipped to me to beat the opening bid of $125.

I guess I have to be patient and see what ebay brings me...
