Title: STEAM SUMMER SALE 2013
Post by: demik on Wed, 10 July 2013, 20:14:46
So, according to an email posted on reddit, the sale starts tomorrow.

It's that wonderful time of the year to add games to your library that you probably won't play in awhile but they were too cheap to pass up on.

Sadly they will still be too expensive.

You mean like Free Money? (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=44752.0)

But Seriously. This is basically how I am. I'm sure I'll convince myself one of the deals is good enough to buy.

I've never seen the steam summer sale so I am wondering how long does the sale usually last? And do the games go real cheap or normal sales cheap? Thanks :)

Deals normally last for a day I think.

going 75% off if you call that "real" cheap :)

it's around a week or two. they have flash sales (the really really good sales) every 6 or so hours.

the key to the steam sales is to buy towards the end of the sale.

I picked up Skyrim with all the bells and whistles on the first day-- 36 dollars, but I''d been promising myself for years "Once they do an all-inclusive version and once it goes on sale..."

Tonight I obtained Borderlands 2 and FTL.

This is more than I've spent on games in years.

Picked up To The Moon, BioShock Infinite and Skyrim DLC so far. Still 20+ games on my wishlist, but I'll keep an eye out for better deals on some of them before I buy, since it's happened before during sales that I've bought games at 33-50% off only to find them at 75% off the next day.

So Thursday Dark Souls went on sale for $7.50 and I was seriously contemplating buying it. This action however would mean me spending a quarter of my weekly food budget, which I was hard pressed to do. For reference, I live off scraps during the Summer as an unpaid intern and no big grants to spend as during the school year. Anywho, I went on the Dark Souls sub on Reddit asking a few questions to try and convince myself to buy it, and some amazing Redditor stepped forward and gifted me the game through Steam. Welp, turns out this Redditor was none other than bisl of GH and we both had a laugh. Small world, full of awesome people.

I've only bought Don't Starve.

I don't really get the steam sale mentality of buy everything because it's cheap and I might play it. I only buy games I want and I know I will play. I usually stick with a single game for a long time as well.

Oh man, D3 was a disappointment. The only thing I liked about it was the real money auction house. I made about $40 off of random items that I saved through farming. I'll take it.

As far as the sale goes, has anyone bought or played fall out new vegas? If so what are your thoughts?

Also, I want Fallout (3 or NV) and Skyrim, in that order.

Best critic ever. He's always completely right in whatever he says. Yes, Silent Hill 2 is that awesome. Yes, Half-Life 2 is that awesome. Yes, Resistance 3 copied Half-Life 2.

Don't Question Yahtzee.

Yahtzee is ****ing brilliant, the only perfect game was portal 1 I believe :D

Psychonauts seems to have a special place as well, which I understand because it's a brilliant game.
That said, I enjoy his writing and on-the-side let's plays with Gabriel more than the ZP videos these days.

I get a kick out of that one Poetry series he does with that other guy who I can't be bothered to mention.

I'm pretty sure I spent like.... 15 bux, pretty surprised, although I should've bought the Fallout 3 GOTY edition because I wanted to play that..... oh well! I got Antichamber and CS:GO (which I suck so brutally at it's not even funny)

I'm OK at CS. I don't play a lot of Demolition.

Fallout 3 is pretty fun in the hour that I've played it. It's so far got a couple of funny parts, especially the last question on the GOATS test. Didn't bother with GOTY, since that was twice the price of the base game. So, instead of getting Fallout 3 and all DLC, I got Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

I got Crysis 2, Sleeping Dogs, Hitman Absolution.

I almost got FF7. But I've played it so many times, and supposedly the 2D backgrounds look like garbage, music is all MIDI, and steam version is harder to mod.

We need to put together a Left 4 Dead 2 group. Pugs are annoying.

10/13 gas cans on Dead Center. Twice.
Perfect Tank Kill on Dead Center Finale. Twice.

Borderlands 2 is the devil. I get angry a lot at it, but I am so addicted...didn't feel this way since the first time I played League.

Wish I could play Chivalry though but my laptop is buns...should've bought more games that would be amazing to play once I get my new laptop.

Chivalry is now my therapeutic game of choice, the death sounds are just so hilarious that I can't help but not LMAO every single time I play!

Oh no, when there are just 2 people left I always ask

"Knife"

and usually get a "No" but then I try and ninja my way around the map and knife them anyways.

Although recently I would accidentally pick up a grenade and give away my position :(
