USPS Priority Small Flate Rate: $5.15
Larger orders may cost more
US PayPal Fee: $0.30+3%

I reserve the right to limit order quantities.

I'm ordering six sets; can I just order one retrobrite treatment as well and you simply choose whatever you think is more yellowed to do the treatment on?

I'd like sets

41 (8), 43 (10), 40, (10), 34 (10), 38 (5), 19 (15)

yes, as long as you don't mind if the caps are all mixed together. It will be difficult for me to separate them out again once I put them all in the solution.

Also, please don't edit your post. That kinda defeats the point of using the time stamp to determine who called the set first. Thanks

That was you that called 35. Someone else called 32. I saw your note on the order form so I went ahead and put that down. Sorry this got confusing. It seemed so much smoother in my head...

No worries at all.  You're doing the best you can, though you might want to enforce the part of calling it in the thread to make it easier.

Thanks, and to be clear, if someone had called it in the thread before I saw your note on the order form, i would have had to give it to them. So I am enforcing it, but it only matters if multiple people want the same set.

Long spacebar stabilizer is fixed with screws do?

Some of them are, some are not. I should have clarified that, sorry. Out of the boards I have already taken apart, all of the ones with screws have been claimed. I don't know if any of the others have screws or not.

Are those vintage blacks stiffer than the newer blacks? Thanks!

I have been told the opposite. I honestly don't have any new production blacks to compare to, but it is my understanding that people say the older switches are smoother. Some are also well broken in which might also make a difference.

How much for a 110 vintage blacks to Malaysia via 1st class Mail ?

I am at work now, but if I remember correctly, 110 switches is just under 8oz. So USPS website says that would be $12.15 for first class shipping to Malaysia

OK, as of right now there are 4 more 10x space bar stabilizers left. All of the screw in type PCB mounts are gone. I also may run out of PCB mounts for these soon.

I still have plenty of 2x Plate Mount stabilizers.

If you haven't been invoiced yet, I will do my best to get the rest of those out today or this evening, but right now I have to go to work unfortunately :(

Ordered some vintage. Please check the comment section and let me know if there is any issue. :)

Got it, no problems, thanks.

Cool, I'll take #20 then.

You got it, I should have your paypal info already so i'll add your order if the caps are all you want. If you want other stuff, then just fill the form when you get a chance.

Thanks everybody!

Here's a shot of the Vintage MX-Black I received yesterday next to a modern brown to show the comparison. You'll probably want to click on the photo and head to Flickr so you can see it a bit larger.

Thanks mashby, awesome pic. I never think of this during daylight hours, and you prompted me to do some more comparison shots of old and new Cherry MX switches. Please forgive the tater pics.

Left to right: (the only types I am selling are 1,2, and 4)

1. "Old" Cherry Black - Notice the medium font centered on cherries, whole logo is same width as the plunger, with beveled inside edge of the top housing. To me, that beveled edge on this type is distinctive, especially when you move it and see the light reflect of the shiny part of the bevel. It's definitely a different type of top housing from the other switches here, but I'm not sure where these fall, so I am grouping them with the "Old" Cherry Blacks. I saw someone call these "vintage" before, and they may be right, but I'm just not sure. From old WYSE terminal board.

2. "Vintage" black. Has the larger font centered on the cherries and the whole logo is slightly wider than the plunger. These are the ones I have seen others in the know label as "vintage". From old WYSE terminal board.

3. "Modern" Blue, current production. Here for comparison only. Notice the font is small, but centered on the cherries, and the whole logo is slightly narrower than the plunger. This is on a Rosewill RK-9000.

4. "Old" Cherry Black. Notice the logo is small like current production and is slightly narrower than the plunger, but also notice that the font is top aligned with the cherries, not centered. I have seen these called "modern" but if you compare it to the modern blue in #3 or to the modern brown in mashby's pic above, you can see they are not the same. But, those who came before me say that only the larger logo means vintage, so I am calling these "Old" to distinguish them from "Vintage" and "Modern". From old WYSE terminal board.

5. "Vintage" Blue, here purely for comparison (Read: NOT FOR SALE). Notice the larger logo centered on cherries and slightly wider than the plunger, same as "Vintage" Blacks. I believe this particular switch came from an old Dolch board, courtesy of jdcarpe.

I would like:

* Set #44: (Wyse WY-60. "Fair" condition. No hat caps)
* 12 Cherry Plate Mount Stabilisers
* International postage. (Sweden)

If someone had snatched up set #44 before me, I would like another set which does not have hat Caps. I want that Ctrl key. :)

It looks like 44 is still available. Shipping to Sweden is $12.75 First Class / $23.95 Priority. I will assume you want the cheaper option, but please let me know if you want to upgrade shipping.

I confirm that this set does not have "hat" caps. I like that description, lol. They are certainly strange caps.

e: not thinking straight, placing order

Yes, I got your order, thanks.

ATTENTION NEW ORDERS: I might be out of "Vintage" blacks. You can still fill the form if you want, just know that I might not have any more available after I process all the current orders. I just don't have an exact count of how many I started with since I was estimating based on how many boards I had. A quick tally of the orders tells me I might be close to being out though. Once I get all the currently invoiced orders sorted out by the end of this weekend, I will update with something more specific.

I still have plenty of the other "old" switches though since 90% of people wanted vintage. I do also have 5 more boards in shipment to me now, but I just don't know yet how many vintage switches they will have.

This does not apply to you if you've already been invoiced for vintage blacks. I believe I have enough to cover those orders. I swear these weren't this popular last time I sold a bunch of switches. Thanks everyone for all the interest!

Also I am officially out of "vintage" blacks for the time being.

Just a random note, thanx to this thread I learned that I do in fact have some vintage blues. I was debating that fact until I saw your comparison and looked at the difference between a recently harvested QFR with blues and an old keyboard I took apart.

In short, I have some vintage blues I need to add to my GH60 PCB when I get it.

Thanx A LOT!!!

@do_Og@n That's cool about your vintage blues. Congrats. I have about 200, planning on putting them on my Phantom and at least one of my gh60s.

To anyone interested: I have a lot of leftover parts from tearing down all these WYSE boards. If anyone is interested in the cases, plates or PCBs leftover, you can have them for actual shipping costs. I don't know if any if this stuff is useful, but maybe it is to you?

Also, the comment above reminds me, blues are my favorite switches, but I am also interested in trying out clears and whites. If you have any blues, whites, or clears you want to trade for anything, I'm open to that.

MKULTRA, domoaligato, AcidFire, and codyeatworld, your orders are now packaged and labeled and will be dropped off at the post office first thing Monday morning. AFAIK, everyone who has paid is packaged and shipped or will be shipped Monday morning, except those of you I have talked to directly about other arrangements.

Thanks everybody.

Got my keys and switches yesterday, 210 MX Blacks looks like less than you'd think haha, the caps were in great condition and after like a hour oxyclean bath to rid of the old smell they look brand new, don't notice any yellowing.  Thanks so much whiskytango, depending on how much shipping I would probably be interested in a plate and case from a WYSE PCE.

There is no particular model #. You just have to look at the individual switches. Most wyse boards have a mix of large and small font Cherry logos on the switches. And I'm still not convinced there is a difference between the two, but those in the know say the large font logo is better. Hope that helps.

Ok, are these Dark Grays?  When testing them (unmounted, pressing with fingers), I can't really tell a difference between them and regular MX Blacks.  Could be a small difference that I'd feel once they are mounted--I don't know.

Pure Black stems are on the left side: front, and one far back.  Middle left is undecided...  It's not pure black, but also quite dark to be gray...

Interesting. I did not notice this when desoldering them, but then again I was in hurry-up mode. I wish I could tell you exactly which board(s) those came off of, but I was just desoldering them, sorting the switch housing types out, and throwing them into a pile. I have never heard of WYSE boards using dark grays, but you're right, those don't exactly look black. Never had any dark grays in my possession (that I knew of) to compare to though. I understood though that dark grays would be noticeably stiffer than a black.

Good eye though. Definitely will be paying more attention now as I sort switches.

I hope someone who's seen them will pitch in.  I did not expect them, so I opened at least one of the questionable switches and one of the definite gray switches and took out the springs into the big spring pile (for cleaning) before I realized that I had a gray stem on my hands.  I tried to look for an obviously different spring to put back in, but, I couldn't identify one!  As far as I can tell, the springs look the same.  And the natural variation in color did not help--some were more silver, some were a bit oxidized.  I'll have to open the other two gray switches and double-check.  Could someone comment on Dark Gray springs vs. Black/Clear springs in terms of appearance?

Are those "old" black stems the same as mx red stems? I want to replace the blue stems on my poker so I can make it mx reds, but I was wondering if those black stems were identical to that of reds so that I can just use the black stems instead of trying to find red ones.

Pretty sure the only difference between a Red and a Black switch is the spring. Stems are the same.

I added Dark Grey (Linear) switches to my MX-Black Poker and they are noticeably heavier than an MX-Black switch. I only have two left, which I plan on using on another board, otherwise I'd send one to you.  :-[

As far as I know, yes they are identical. I have done exactly what you said, used stems from some old blacks from a WYSE and springs from a blue to make a red. They call this a "ghetto red". I put them side by side with some modern reds and couldn't tell a real difference. What little difference I could tell I think had more to do with the fact that the reds were on a Leopold and the ghetto reds were on a Rosewill.

If all you need are the stems, and you don't need your blue stems, I will trade you, stem for stem. I like blues with black springs...

Thank you--yours are much lighter in color!  I can see a clear difference.  So then mine are not Dark Grays but use some uncommon and odd gray plastic for Black stems... which is just confusing!!!

To compare the springs maybe just press them against each other (one stem against the the other).

Yeah, I could do that.  But the most likely answer is that my odd gray switches are just plain MX Blacks from some random batch that used dark gray plastic in place of black.  The switches feel the same, and according to Mashby, I would notice the difference with Dark Grays being quite stiff.  Maybe they are some sort of "transition" switches, when the change was happening with the logo from "vintage" Blacks to "modern" Blacks.

I got my switches today at the post. Thx a lot Whiskytango!

Also, first thing I did was to take 2 switches out and "test" them in my hands since the only switch I ever tried is the brown on my Filcos. And the second thing I did was to open a switch, see what it looked like, and change the spring for a 65g spring I had (got tem from someone on GH, and I think he told me they were from originative or similar).

And the first thing I realised is that both springs are VERY different. First, the stock "vintage" spring is shorter, has fewer coils and is maybe darker in color (probably because it's old). So, since I have no stock blue/red/brown spring, or a stock black "modern" black spring, I would be very happy if anyone having all 3 of them could take a picture of them besides one another?

I tried to take a picture of my 2 springs together, but my camera sucks hard and was unable to do so...

By the way, those springs regain their shine and clean up nice if you put them into a small glass filled with 91% alcohol for a few minutes :)  Not completely back to silver, but much cleaner after the dip.

I don't think those are Dark Grey's. They might be from a different plastic batch of vintage black stems though.

Dark Grey's are as firm as normal grey's or greens but linear (as others have stated).

Really thrilled with the "thick" set to see how different they are from the standard SP thin series.

Sorry to bump an old thread but what's the functional difference between plate and pcb mounted stabs?

Plate mounted ones don't have those two plastic pieces on the bottom and they can only be mounted to a plate. The PCB mounted ones have to use special/specific PCB's that have the cutouts for those two plastics pieces. But, you can also cut those off to turn them into Plate mounted.

Hope that helps

thanks!

I need a pcb mounted cherry stab, so this won't cut it as it doesn't have the things that poke into the pcb

That is correct. Sorry, I don't have any more PCB stabs available right now. Plate only.
