Title: Is it possible to repair switches that click twice?
Post by: DMuk on Fri, 26 September 2008, 14:00:44
I've got one of these boards http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=626 (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=626) and I've noticed that many of the keys click on the way up as well as down. This is clearly not intentional as only the most commonly used keys do it. Is there anything that I can do to fix this?

Cheers.

I do not know the mechanism good enough to say what could cause such behavior.

If it's not the result of excessive wear then basic cleaning may help. You can take the keyboard apart and put everything into the dishwasher. I do not exceed 55° C.

The switches are not the most reliable/consistent ones.

With Acer switches? Crazy.

What are the switches that don't suck like?

All of the function keys, the numpad keys and various other keys are fine.
I'm no expert on keyboards, but the action(?) seems good on these keys. I hear a click on depressing and nothing else.

As for the problem keys, the click is probably twice as loud as the good keys.
