Title: [WTB] Gold 62g springs
Post by: TimIsABat on Tue, 16 July 2013, 18:33:17
As I am still unsure to get 62g, 65g, or 67g springs... I want to be able to atleast test the difference between 62g and 62g gold. This will be for an ergoclear mod on my Poker X.

Gold ones were easier to source a while ago, but now much harder to find. Calavera just showed off a batch, but not sure if he's selling them.

62g gold are slightly heavier than standard 62g ones, but I can't really put a definite number on how much heavier.

Do the gold springs really make a difference?

Originativeco sells regular 62g springs for $8.

try it. If he gets it right you have to send him a bag of springs.
if not he will never mention gold springs again.

I doubt 90% of GH could tell the difference between 62g and 65g in a blind test, and whether they were lubed or not.

You should try 62g springs first.  I thought mine were going to be too light when I played with individual Clears and wanted the "63.5g" gold springs, but now that I have my 62g [fully-lubed following to the WFD method] Ergo-Clears on a Filco, all soldered-in, they are actually on the a-touch-too-heavy side.  I'm almost considering swapping the 62g springs out for stock red/brown/blue springs (58g or something like that), as I'll have them once I mod my blue switches.

Dude I have both springs with me right now it's significantly lighter WE HAVE TALKED ABOUT THIS

You have to be super anal about your gear and care enough.

I know if something is off from perfect.

So then you understand you're typing on something other than MY?

I might be doing it wrong, but there is day and night in difference between lubed switches and non lubed, especially the sound changes so significantly that your wouldn't know it was the same switch, mind, I have only really tested in on PCB mount switches.
