Hey all,
From the department of Public Service Announcements:
I checked with PFU yesterday, to order a wood/leather wrist rest and one of their soft cases, and discovered that the soft case was no longer listed on their web site. I wrote PFU, asking if they were out of stock, and I received a very nice, prompt response, indicating that they had stopped selling the soft case at the end of September, but they would still accept orders for another week (for shipment to Japan only) from the following URL:
http://www.pfu.fujitsu.com/direct/hhkb/detail_softcase.html
I went to order one from crescent-shop.com, and they got a little bit confused, because apparently the page above says that they stopped accepting orders on 30 September, so they found the same item for sale here:
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/vshopu/0342-1511/
although with only two left in stock, and not able to renew their supply. There's only an appx. US$2 price difference, so I didn't argue, and has them order it from ShopU.
So anyway, the days are numbered for the HHKB soft case, if anyone wants to get one.
(While I own the so-called hard case, and think it's pretty spiffy, the soft case seems more practical, in that it would make it easier for me to carry along the keyboard in my laptop case.)

I have the "hard" case and really like it. Fits nicely in my laptop bag (which incorporates it, and two laptops fairly easily) and I like the extra pocket for misc items (a retractable USB cable, USB<>PS2 adapter, etc).
-
Im interested but it probably going to be rough process to get it to here.....

I would wager that I use a smaller laptop case than you. :)
For tasks like porting the keyboard around by itself (e.g., between home and work), I agree, I think the "hard" case is terrific, and the external pocket seals the deal. That said, I do wish the case had lugs for a shoulder strap. If wishes were fishes ...

That soft case looks more like an over-sized pencil case. The hard case sounds more interesting.

And I thought the soft case was new. :(

What the soft-case really reminds me of is a bank-deposit bag:

I did search for bank-deposit bags that were HHKB size-appropriate (as they cost only US$5 or less), but wasn't able to find anything. Either they were slightly too small (6" x 11.5") or way too large (9" x 12").
I wouldn't order one of these on its own, given the crescent-shop fee and international shipping, but stacked on top of some other items it was reasonable.

I bought the hardcase like Imav's..... (from geekstuff4you). It's really good case and I would recommend it.

I bought the first one from GeekStuff4U. That's when I also pick up the hardcase. My second one I got from benippon. Benippon was much faster in shipping. I think I waited for something like a month when I order my first one from GeekStuff4U.

That's a nice collection, Korbin.

Thanks. I have a pretty serious case of KAS (Keyboard Acquisition Syndrome).

I think the cheapest place to get the HHKBP2 is amazon.co.jp, although it's not cheaper by much, and purchasing from there isn't straightforward. You'll need either (a) friend in Japan, or (b) the services of a broker, e.g., crescent-shop.com. If you use crescent-shop, the total (including broker fees and shipping) comes to about US$270.
On the topic of HHKB cases, one thing I love about the "hard" case is that it feels so serious. When I use it to carry my HHKBP2 to work, I feel like a pool shark walking into a billiards hall for a tournament, carrying my trusty cue.

Crescent ordered mine here:

benippon is nice because you can pay in two times....
