Title: How many Korean board owners actually use them as their daily driver?
Post by: digi on Thu, 18 July 2013, 15:24:56
KMAC, LZ's, etc. Just curious how many of you use your Korean keyboard as your daily driver and in which application are you using them? i.e. Casual typing, programming, school vs. gaming, etc.

They look so nice but expensive, I guess my question is whether or not they become shelf queens? I think that building them yourself would be half the gratification of using a custom? I don't own a Korean board yet so I'm just curious.

LZ-S and GON board get swapped around. I use them for everything.

Once my KMAC is fixed, it will be my daily driver/main board. I love that thing so much.

You love it and yet you don't treat it to stickers? You're an abomination.

Me, at work and home both, about 90% of the time, occasionally an HHKB though.

It's because I love it that I didn't sticker it. Would you put flames on an Aston Martin or a Veyron Bugatti? They don't actually make your car go faster you know? Stickers are very similar, 90% hype and don't increase your WPM.

My rotation consists of Korean custom boards only.

I use mine to hold the drawers on my storage shut... also props up one end of my desk.

All mine are on loan tho.

Everyone knows that racing stripes make you go faster.

You're obviously too new to understand. Let me explain:

MXers feel any need to try to make their crappy switches better. They will try any little change.

Mine sits nicely unassembled inside a box (not even a shelf) for almost a year now.

I believe I asked you for a sheet of stickers with your choice of colors because I wanted something to laugh at :P

You monster!

All my Korean boards have become shelf-sitters.  I use my HHKB 2 Type-S as my regular driver and a cheap-o Rosewill at work.

What happened to Akimbo aka Mr. 55g? :P Isn't the Type-S a 45g board? How do you manage?!? :O

The HHKB is more tactile than the 55g imo.  I've become so accustomed to the HHKB layout that I'm having trouble switching to anything else.

I use my dvorak-only KMAC LE every day at home. It's my "I miss my model F" keyboard of choice.

My KMAC is my main driver at work, and my favorite keyboard overall.

I don't have a korean board, but I don't buy boards I wouldn't use or that would just sit on a shelf looking pretty

Unlike the sole MYer that feels the need to try and proselytize a poor switch to all even though there was no call for it?

Don't you have an a.8whatever pcb, mr. "it's just better"?

I would use mine if not for a switch base not working and liking my matias.

Are the spacing between keys different than a standard keyboard? They look slightly further apart

Don't worry he's going to treat it with TaiHao and QFR caps in a checker pattern. It's gonna be a beaute.

Of course I use them!  Why would anyone buy a keyboard to put on a shelf  :(

Realforce at work, rotate through my couple of other boards at home.

Woah, bro. I never said anything about MY in this thread. Man, I was wondering where that rumbling that woke me up was coming from...

I don't think Cherry ever introduced the MY in Korea, or else all of the Kustomz would be made with MY. It's a very sad thing. Perhaps I should try to get some together and create the knowledge over there on my own. A hard challenge though, because ever G81 I get, I just want to keep to myself...
