Do you use a standing desk?
Wanna buy or build one.

Not yet, but I should be getting my GeekDesk here in a couple weeks

I really ought to pick a standing desk up some time. I think it would be a great thing! :D

I've got a bad back to the point where if I stand in one place for too long my back starts killing me. I could never use one of these unfortunately :( 18 years old with the back of an 80 year old.

Want to build one but it's hard to get scrap metal for (well, all the scrap places that sell the metal are in god awful neighborhoods) it and new metal is expensive.

I built my current desk out of wood. Have you thought of building one with wood or do you prefer a metal look?

Don't really have the skillset/tools to make wood look good (who wants raw 2x4s and plywood), but I can weld decent and like the look of raw metal.

For my desk I used Maple plywood for everything but the top, which was an old countertop of mine made of solid maple. You can get all different sorts of plywood whereas the inner portions are normal plywood but the outers are of a wood of your choice. This then allows for staining which I did. It's relatively cheap too. I think I paid in total for my desk around $120 in wood, hinges, and other parts. The only tools I used were a skilsaw, a table saw, a drill, and a small router to dado grooves for the panels into the top to make everything look seamless, rabbit the back so it mounted flush, and round off the top edges so that they were nice and smooth. It wasn't too difficult, but then again, I did have help from a carpenter friend :/

I want a standing setup bad... I will have one soon enough!

Love my standing desk!

Ridiculous $0 copay health insurance, Internet reimbursement, Aeron chairs, I got to build my own dev system, 30" monitors, an all-expenses-paid developer conference once a year, a laptop for remote/travel work, and any other hardware I might need to get my work done. I work entirely out of my home office and they ship everything to me. That's on top of a very, very competitive salary.
Sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging, I just love my job way too much.

Sometimes I struggle to choose between a nice chair (hopefully i can get aeron), or a standing desk. Or actually both.
At the moment i think i will just build a crappy standing desk out of existing furniture
