Title: RF 87U case different plastics
Post by: jalaj on Sun, 21 July 2013, 20:04:46
Just an interesting observation:

tore apart both a 87U black and 87U white today.
notice that the plastic is different for the two casings
[attach=1]

ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) for black
PS (polystyrene) for white

on wikie's page for ABS, there is a claim that ABS is stronger than PS:
"The nitrile groups from neighboring chains, being polar, attract each other and bind the chains together, making ABS stronger than pure polystyrene."

So if you are going to keyboard rage :mad: after losing a game of SC, make sure you have the black version

That would also make them more brittle, would it not? So maybe you'd prefer the PS because you might dent it, while still retaining shape.

It's made of tears from the gods that is allowed to harden. Unbreakable and flawless.
